This was a common sight throughout Morocco and we initially thought it was a calendar (because the boxes numbered up to 28 which is the monthly lunar cycle used in Islamic countries to denote time), but it turns out they might be used during elections with the icons representing various political parties.

How do creative professionals who are paid to think outside the box express themselves? At Corey McPherson Nash, we do it inside the boxa shallow, glass-topped, wooden box, to be exact.
14 years ago we resuscitated the quaint craft of shadow-box making and turned it into a company ritual. The rules are simple: Don't go outside the box, and don't put anything living inside the box. But the object is ambitious: to provide a hands-on tutorial in Corey McPherson Nash's organizational culture. "Our basic operating principle is to define broad goals, supply a little structure, and then give people the freedom to do creative work."
With the shadow boxes, that principle has produced wildly diverse visions. Among the completed boxes: a vivid frightscape, complete with a crank for animating dancing-devil cutouts; a meditation on "what it could have been," featuring a loose marble and a list of design possibilities; and Tom Corey's own taxonomy of "bad seeds."
This is the lunch box I received in the MaSGo lunch box exchange. It is from Sharon (Lv2BrkGlas) and it is so dang beautiful I can hardly stand it!!
THANK YOU Sharon!!!!
Oh, and it was filled with mosaic treasures...glass, tiles, etc. Yummmm!
building two 7 foot long cedar window boxes isn't really all that hard, but like most projects it's never going to get done unless i set aside the time to actually do it! so, this year i made the perennial to-do item on my list a mother's day gift for kris so i'd be sure to get it done :-)
they are simple boxes made similar to what's shown in this martha stewart cedar window box how-to. i used three 1"x10" cedar boards with 2 1"x1" cedar "cleats", which hold the front and back and sides, drilled and glued to the bottom board. i trimmed the bottom board to 8" wide so i could flare out the front of the box to give it a little more style that a simple rectangle.
i suppose i could fancy them up with some trim at some point.
Pill box near St Martha on the Hill. There's a small hole in the bricked up doorway large enough to fit through, but the inside is covered with litter, so not a very nice experience!
If you'll remember my description about how terrified I was driving up to Logan's Pass on the Road to the Sun in Glacier National Park - I took this photo while white-knuckling it on the steering wheel. How could I have resisted? This sheep standing out on the very edges of the earth and eating cardboard for lunch. Love the way it is framed by the front end loader.
My jewelry box. I chose this object for a topic because I like the dark and light color combinations of green on it.

A further box visit back in October 2015 was Ulceby Signal Box.
Ulceby had evolved to cover quite a significant area compared with its original area. It had a reduced frame and an IFS panel. There was also room for a panel to cover Brocklesby but this never happened.
Sadly the box was demolished with undue haste following closure, before the local S&T even had time to recover equipment for spares, the box coming down with everything still in place.
The entrance to Box Tunnel.
Wiltshire
Isambard Kingdom Brunel's railway tunnel - constructed 1836-41
Brunel claimed itwas the longest in the world. But it wasn't.
There's also a rumour that he aligned it so that the sun would shine through it on his birthday. Sadly, that's also a fanciful tale.
For Liminality: This is the group icon. An entrance to what, exactly? If you research this place you'll find that it is at tthe centre of all sorts of claims that there are secret rooms and parallel tunnels in there. Very liminal indeed!
What my grandpa wrote on top of a box of photos.
I'm going to upload some family photos I have scanned. There's a lot of them!
É assim que o Box da Corrupiola segue viagem: acondicionado com muito papel bolha para não amassar no caminho, e com uma mensagem para o carteiro cuidar bem do seu presente.
I made this box a while back for teacher gifts for Christmas. They are made out of tags. I got the instructions off of the blog over at Tombow. I forgot to upload them and I forgot to take pictures after they were filled. There are holes in the top that you tie with twine or ribbon after you put the candy in. They are very simple to make.
I just used the resist technique on the tags and then designed around that. It was super easy and fun. I will try to find the link with instructions. I just checked and it's eluding me at the moment.
Saving pretty boxes, ribbon and paper, and tying it all up with string, makes for a lovely little package.
Not made of ticky-tacky, cardboard.
I obviously didn't do very well with photography this week.

BOX OF SHADOWS
Edition of 4 signed boxes
For sale at : www.tiradalimitada.com
This Box of Shadows collection has been inspired by the work “U.S.A. Surpasses all the genocide records!” that George Maciunas made in 1969 as a way of protest against the Vietnam War pointing out the violence in the world and specially that of the U.S.A.

Now I have wanted to broaden it by showing the number of deaths in the most bloody wars in history of man, always consequence of the ambition of a greedy minority.
I conclude with a card that poses the question of how many casualties will left the global financial crisis that started in 2008, now considered by many as our III War World.
For the time being we have only information about the people killed in protests, occupations and rallies, or of those who have killed themselves bankrupt for junk bonds, subprime credits or whatever other kind of those economy tricks, but we should start counting all the people slowly dying at home in the streets or in hospitals by depression, hunger, shame, or rage due to the cuts in the welfare state.
Inside the box there are 12 cards with a drawing on one side and one of the following texts on the other:
Card 1
Spanish Civil War 1936- 1950: 700,000 dead
Card 2
World War II 1939- 1945: 75 million dead
Card 3
World War I 1914 - 1918: 31 million dead
Card 4
Napoleonic Wars 1799- 1815: 7,203,000 dead

Card 6
Darfur Conflict 2003-2011: 450,000 dead
Card 7
