Both seen here hanging out together at the North Carolina Transportation Museum. The Texas built by Danforth, Cooke and Co. and recently finished a cosmetic restoration at NCTM and Vulcan 0-6-0 126 is performing switching ceremonies during the event.

Both these starflowers (trientalis borealis) rise on thin stalks from the same leaf whorl. I took a low point of view to show the petals curving upwards and the sepals curving downwards. Windy condition kept them in constant motion as though they were dancing in the breeze.
Both the male and female of the species look the same, and this cheering bird sings all year round. However, don’t be fooled by their loveable appearance: robins are fiercely territorial birds and will fight off any other feathered intruder that lands on their patch.
As any keen gardener will know, robins are fearless and will often follow you, watching while you dig, waiting for their moment to catch the juiciest worm or insect

in our area TRUS are typically the "Default" Swan... looking to discover TUSW is the "challenge -- game"
In this case although the adult TUSW did not have signature yellow in the lores, it was the easier ID
..i know this photo makes ID look easy...more on that subsequent postings
With out using the dreaded H word, fairly safe to lump to TRUS since it is meeting criteria of general structure as well as other head features
The immature bird is larger than the adult TUSW , but a runt by TRUS standards.
There are lingering questions however, which bring up the "Hybrid" word
Habits observations did not have the immature individual integrated into the TRUS flock even when it easily could have I.E. when TRUS flock was also feeding near reservoir
but it kept to itself, often opposite side of the the reservoir
Perhaps in its run down state was just avoiding possible "bullying " interaction.
It has been at times with the TUSW .
Perhaps it approached...and was not a threat due to its (slightly ) smaller size.
The TUSW is also "off" and seems to be trying to recuperate from a weakened state.
The flock of 30-50 TRUS that had been present wintering ,are now gone on Northbound migration.

Both of these gentlemen, pictured at Ballinasloe horse fair, are wearing dealers boots. These originated as a riding boot in Victorian times and are tight-fitting, ankle-high boots, the most notable feature of which is the elastic siding, running from just above the welt to the top of the shoe. The elastic gusset it seems was invented by Sparks-Hall, bootmaker to Queen Victoria. They were much in vogue until the onset of World War 1. They made something of a come-back in the 1960s and (called Chelsea boots) were considered an element of the 1960s mod scene. I can tell you that these are not two aging mods however because for some strange reason, in Ireland at least, cattle dealers, and, from this shot horse dealers too, traditionally wore them. They always had to be tan ones, again why this should be so I have no idea. As often as not they would also wear a tan or brown trousers too. There was a time when they would also wear a brown coat, sometimes even a shop-coat, when going through the fair. It was, I suppose, a type of dealer’s uniform. Obviously the Dealer Boot tradition continues, and, I’m told you can still buy them in certain long established shoe-shops in certain areas if you know where to go. Needless (or is it surprising?) to say they can be bought on-line too!
This is a pedestrian-friendly bridge, having paths for both cyclists and walkers for the east and the west access points. It connects the shoreline and Ocean Avenue with the mainland, spanning the Intracoastal waterway. The is a guardhouse at the midpoint and a couple of local Florida D.O.T benchmarks (also waymarked). The bridge leads you in the direction of Young Circle and The Historic Hollywood Business District. The pedestrian and cyclist path were completed in 1976.

But I prefer the cab units over the GP20. However, I don't get a say in the decision so I can settle for a fleet of GP20's. How about you? My guess is, there will be some additional muscle sent to La Harpe and Kolbe in the future. Glad I was able to witness and photograph at least two of the three in action. Both the Brontosaurus and the Landmark Casino are dinosaurs. However, the Landmark was imploded in 1995 yet the Brontosaurus still lives on in a miniature golf course.
I photographed the Landmark Casino building in Las Vegas in the early 1980's, and just had the slide digitized. The dinosaur lives near me.

Both well known nebulae but not often imaged together in narrowband. These nebs are over 6000 light years away! Comprised of over 40 shots of 4 mins each of Hydrogen-alpha filter and slightly lower amounts of SII and O3, together with 150 shots of 15 secs each for RGB IN total.
Taken with my Pentax 200mm lens, ASI1600MC camera, EQ5 mount and Astrodon filters
Both these nebulae are found in the Perseus Molecular Cloud, and immense, dirty field of interstellar dust and gasses. This molecular cloud makes up the wispiness all over the image.
In the lower left of the image, we find IC 348. This is a young star-forming region located about 1,000 light years from Earth in the constellation Perseus. It consists of nebulosity and an associated 2-million-year-old cluster of roughly 400 stars.
In the upper middle, we see NGC 1333. This reflection nebula is visible as a hazy patch in a small telescope, while a larger aperture will show a pair of dark nebulaeIt is associated with a dark cloud L1450 (Barnard 205). Like IC348, it's a young region of very active star formation.

Two stars both alike in dignity, in the fair Southern Ring planetary nebula where we lay our scene...
Here our “star-crossed lovers” are actually a dying star expelling gas & dust, in orbit with a younger star that is helping to change the shape of this nebula’s intricate rings by creating turbulence. The James Webb Space Telescope can see through the gas and dust in unprecedented detail. In thousands of years, these delicate, gaseous layers will dissipate into surrounding space.
This image is from Webb’s NIRCam instrument, which saw this nebula in the near-infrared.
The Southern Ring nebula is called a planetary nebula. Despite “planet” in the name, which comes from how these objects first appeared to astronomers observing them hundreds of years ago, these are shells of dust and gas shed by dying Sun-like stars. The new details from Webb will transform our understanding of how stars evolve and influence their environments.

Here you can see the Praça do Comerçio (downtonw city center with its stadue the of King Don Jose I (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_I_of_Portugal)- the last of the " golden age" and after the huge hearthquake in 1755 ( actually it was a tsumani) which destroyed the city and surrounding areas - at the time Lisbon was one of the biggest cities in Europe and Portugal the 2nd biggest Empire in the world (which is not very well know these days - it was re-build under guidance of the Marques de Pombal .. after and still today one can see the " Avenida da Liberdade) - a huge Avenue the Champs-Élysées of Lisbon, which goes from one hill down to the river and sea .. - they are mixed here ... ( in pertect sintony - you can look at the one on the top of the hill (of Pombal square)- en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sebasti%C3%A3o_Jos%C3%A9_de_Carvalh. to the King and they are one straight line to the Marques de Pombal statue (his chief Minister - who made it all and one must say quite well - which makes a a lovely Avenue from the top of one of the 7 hills of Lisbon to the river and then sea .. -- from here sailed the first " caravelas" (caravels) to discover the New World see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caravel - this is the "main square in Lisboa " - where one can enjoy both the river Tejo (Tagus) and appreciate both its beauty and " taste in many ways a bit of good Lisboa" - now it you can even enjoy a 3D film of the its history and soon more to come - also here concerts and many "happenings" take place" now - you can see the "old city" of the "Baixa" - downtow or the "old city - it literally means " low city " near the water in this case - Lisbon is made as Rome of 7 hills - this picture was taken at the " the golden hour" that little magic time btw sunset and all else .... when all stands still and its kind of magic - as I know and hope my dearest friend Sigi will visit this beautiful city soon (or as soon as it can be) - we are waiting for you my dear, now it's all renovated and one can really enjoy it - most relaxing at most times of the day and a lovely place to unwind after a long visit to the city - just showing a bit of it and some info :

Both East and West trains (CBBI and BICB) over the New Rock sub tonight. CBBI shown in Peru, IL under the “Peru” sign and in Marseilles, iL at the old Rock Island depot. Also in Marseilles, we got the West train (BICB). After that we finished off the night with BICB in Bureau Jct. IL looking down Nebraska St. and a streak photo at the depot. CBBI was lead by 501 and 516. BICB was lead by 519, 714, and another GE (can’t remember number). 714 was set out at Bureau Jct.
I presume that IAIS 516 will be coming back tomorrow on BICB.

I'm really pleased with how the set mod and lit up landing pad turned out! The set can be modified without adding any extra pieces or rebuilding the wings. Its a fairly simple change and reduces the height of the cockpit area significantly, along with helping the fighter rest lower to the ground. Overall the ship looks a bit sleeker now.
The landing pad is compact and cheap to build, though wedge plates are under some stress so it's pretty fragile and needs to be built in place. The USB LED kit can be found on eBay, check the landing pad instructions zip file for what to look on eBay for.

This bridge that carries both foot and rail traffic over the Potomac River is known as the Appalachian Trail/CSX - Potomac River Bridge. The ruins of the bridge pylons in the foreground once supported the Baltimore & Ohio (B & O) railroad bridge which was an unusual wooden covered bridge.
From the National Parks Service:
The Baltimore & Ohio (B & O) railroad bridge was once a majestic wood covered bridge that spanned the Potomac River and carried train traffic on the B & O Railroad for 23 years prior to the outbreak of the Civil War. In 1859, John Brown, a staunch abolitionist, launched a raid across this bridge to capture the United States Armory and start a war to end slavery. Brown failed at his attempt but made a major impact on the Harpers Ferry area. With the secession of Virginia in April, 1861, the bridge became a tenuous connector between the Confederacy and the Union. The bridge was over an important border, the Potomac River, and constantly had to worry about attacks from both sides of the war. During four years of Civil War, the bridge would be built and destroyed nine times - four times by war, five times by floods.
On June 14, 1861, as the Confederates were leaving Harpers Ferry, Brig. Gen. Joseph Johnston ordered the burning of all bridges on the Potomac under Southern control. The bridges that were destroyed were Point of Rocks, Shepherdstown, and Berlin. The Berlin Bridge is called Brunswick today. The Harpers Ferry region was a dangerous border area for the next eight months, disallowing rebuilding of the bridge. When the Union army occupied Harpers Ferry in February of 1862 and B & O bridge builders accompanied them. A new iron trestle was completed atop the original piers in less than three weeks, which allowed for supplies to be sent to the Union forces in Harpers Ferry and further south.
The Confederates regained Harpers Ferry on September 15, 1862 but just a few days later they would abandon that post. On September 18, 1862, the bridge was destroyed for a second time by Confederates when they left Harpers Ferry due to the outcome of the Battle of Antietam in Shepherdstown. B & O bridge builders returned with the Union army a few weeks later and had the bridge operational once again by early October.
The third time the bridge was destroyed was during the Gettysburg Campaign in 1863. This time, the retreating Union forces had destroyed the bridge to ensure the Confederates could not use it to support their invasion into the North. Union forces would reoccupy Harpers Ferry during the third week of July of 1863, following the Confederate retreat from Gettysburg. Once the Confederates had retreated, the B & O bridge builders arrived to rebuild the bridge.
The fourth and final time the bridge was destroyed occurred during the final invasion of the North in July of 1864. Once Confederate Jubal Early's forces withdrew from Maryland by mid-July, the B & O railroad rebuilt the bridge once more. In the fall of 1864, the Union used the bridge to transport an immense amount of supplies across the Potomac and into the armory depot for use by Philip Sheridan's army during its Valley Campaign. The Valley Campaign conquered the Confederate army in the Shenandoah Valley and the B & O Railroad was the artery of life for Sheridan's army.

Osawa talks to Kaori during the live radio broadcast.

Main story
There are two reasons why a person faces the sea.
One # to enjoy a slice of shine in the sea like children bubbling over in the beach.
The other # to brush the dust of memory like an old man who misses old days # staring at the shine
quietly.
Those lead to only one meaning though they do not seem to overlap. It’s a rebirth.
I face myself to change tomorrow # a vague day into something certain.
That is the meaning of a rebirth.
I had a very sweet girlfriend when I was 18.
After she left # I knew the meaning of gentleness for the first time and also a true pain of loss. After
she left # how many times did I depend too much on her # doubt her # envy her and keep on telling lies
until I realized it is love?
I wonder whether a nobody like me could have given something to her who was struggling in the
daily life in those days. Giving something is arrogant conceit. It is nothing but self-satisfaction.
I had been thinking about such a thing.
However # I guess what she saw in me was because I had nothing. That‘s why she tried to see
something in me. Perhaps she found a slight possibility in me # a guy filled with ambiguous # unstable
tomorrow. But I wasted days depending too much on her gentleness.
Now I finally can convey how I felt in those days when we met.

あらすじ
大学を目指している北見ケイは、SNS上で、6歳年上のイベントコンパニオン、上村香織に出会う。
上京してきた香織の夢は、有名なアーティストの友達になるためだ。
そのためにはラジオ局のプロデューサー、大沢亮の存在が必要だった。
大沢は、ラジオの生放送中、香織へ語りかける。
「僕には妻子がある。しかし、僕は君に会いたいと思っている」
ケイの同級生で、彼を想っている三條里香は、香織の動向を探っていた。。。。。
本編
人が海へ向かう理由には、二つある。
ひとつは、波打ち際ではしゃぐ子供のように、今の瞬間の海の輝きを楽しむこと。
もうひとつは、その輝きを静かに見据えて、過ぎ去った日々を懐かしむ老人のように記憶の埃を払うこと。
二つは重なり合わないようではあるけれども、たったひとつの意味しか生まない。
再生だ。
明日っていう、曖昧な日を確実なものへと変えてゆくために、自分の存在に向き合う。
それが再生の意味だ。
十八歳だった僕には大切な人がいた。

このロットナンバーは、眠っていたレオナルドダヴィンチの作品がオークションにかけらた際に付されたものです。
作品にはサインなどがいっさい記されていなかったため、彼の作品だと断定できませんでした。
しかし、様々な鑑定の結果、陽の光を浴びました。
誰にも気づかれない作品。肩書がなくとも静かに語りかける作品。
僕はこれから様々な形で、多くの皆様に提供できるよう努めてゆきます。

Die Römischen Bäder, nordöstlich des Schlosses Charlottenhof im Park Sanssouci in Potsdam, spiegeln die Italiensehnsucht des Bauherrn Friedrich Wilhelm IV. wider. Verschiedene römisch/altitalienische Stilrichtungen wurden 1829–1840 in dem Bauensemble zusammengeführt.
Noch in seiner Kronprinzenzeit ließ der spätere Friedrich Wilhelm IV. zuerst Schloss Charlottenhof (1826–1829) und anschließend die Römischen Bäder erbauen. Mit zahlreichen Ideen und Entwurfszeichnungen nahm der künstlerisch begabte Thronfolger großen Einfluss auf die Pläne des Architekten Karl Friedrich Schinkel. Die Bauleitung wurde dem Schinkel-Schüler Ludwig Persius übertragen.
Das Gärtnerhaus (1829/1830) und das Gärtnergehilfenhaus (1832) wurden beide im italienischen Landhausstil errichtet. Das Römische Bad (1834–1840), im antiken Villenstil und Namensgeber des Bauensembles, und ein Teepavillon (1830), im Stil eines antiken Tempels, bilden den Gebäudekomplex, verbunden durch Pergolen, Arkaden und Gartenteile. Die einzelnen Gebäude setzen sich aus der Erinnerung der zweiten Italienreise 1828 Schinkels zusammen. So ist das Römische Bad, in dem nie gebadet wurde, aus der romantischen Fantasie des königlichen Italienliebhabers entstanden.
Das nostalgische Ensemble der Römischen Bäder grenzt an einen künstlichen See, der bei Peter Joseph Lennés Gestaltung des Charlottenhofer Areals angelegt wurde. Der sogenannte Maschinenteich hat seinen Namen von einem Dampfmaschinenhaus mit Pumpstation, das 1923 abgerissen wurde.
Ab November 2022 werden die Römischen Bäder für mehrere Jahre wegen dringend nötiger Bau- und Restaurierungsarbeiten geschlossen.

The Roman Baths, north-east of Charlottenhof Palace in Sanssouci Park in Potsdam, reflect the yearning for Italy of the builder King Frederick William IV. Various Roman/Old Italian styles were brought together in the building ensemble from 1829-1840.
While still Crown Prince, the later Frederick William IV first had Charlottenhof Palace (1826-1829) and then the Roman Baths built. With numerous ideas and design drawings, the artistically gifted heir to the throne exerted great influence on the plans of the architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel. Schinkel's pupil Ludwig Persius was entrusted with the construction management.
The Gardener's House (1829/1830) and the Gardener's Assistant's House (1832) were both built in the Italian country house style. The Roman Bath (1834-1840), in the antique villa style and eponym of the building ensemble, and a tea pavilion (1830), in the style of an antique temple, form the building complex, connected by pergolas, arcades and garden sections. The individual buildings are composed of memories of Schinkel's second trip to Italy in 1828. Thus the Roman Baths, in which bathing never took place, arose from the romantic fantasy of the royal Italy lover.
The nostalgic ensemble of the Roman Baths borders on an artificial lake that was created during Peter Joseph Lenné's design of the Charlottenhof grounds. The so-called Maschinenteich (Engin Pond) takes its name from a steam engine house with a pumping station that was demolished in 1923.
From November 2022, the Roman Baths will be closed for several years for urgently needed construction and restoration work.
Both male and female Northern Mockingbirds sing. They often mimic the sounds of birds (and frogs) around them, including shrikes, blackbirds, orioles, killdeer, jays, hawks, and many others. They go on learning new sounds throughout their lives. The song is a long series of phrases, with each phrase repeated 2-6 times before shifting to a new sound; the songs can go on for 20 seconds or more.
Both Turkey Vultures and Black Vultures visited the neighborhood today. This Turkey Vulture took a liking to a neighbor's mailbox.

White Echinacea (Coneflower). Most of the Echinacea in my gardens are of the "purple" variety (although the blossoms are actually more pink than purple). Butterflies and bees seem to be more drawn to the purple flowers, but the yellow finches are not as fussy - they snack on the seed heads of both. I love the white because it 'jumps' in the early morning light and again as the light fades in the evening.
