I had never seen this tree before and I thought the bark was very intriguing. Beijing, China. June 4, 2015.

Saw tons of them growing by the side of the road, where a powerline right-of-way cut through. This species is considered introduced in Connecticut, but this is my first time finding a genuinely wild population.

The IXUS 75 isn't bad for this purpose! There may be different species of Spirogyra here. The larger one has four spiral shaped strands of chloroplasts, whereas the small one in the background appears to have just one.
