Botany '500- Char wool suit. 46R. Gray lining.

Grows in Britain. This specimen found Caithness, Scotland. Plant is actually a type of sedge. The white hairs aid seed dispersal in the wind.

Botany Bay was constructed on January 30 2010 by MELT, RAD, PLJ and Dax.

It was made with:

Cardboard,

Foil,

Spray Adhesive,

Zip Ties,

Pulley’s,

Rope,

Fishing line,

Chopsticks,

Duct Tape,

Sheets, 1 set, flannel,

Shop Light,

& 1 old lead weight.

Controversial seafarer, James Cook, first named it 'Sting Ray Harbour'. On 6 May 1770, Cook changed the name in his journal. First to 'Botanist's Bay', before settling on 'Botany Bay' because of the 'great quantity of new plants collected by Mr Banks and Dr Solander'.

It was cool with a chilly wind this morning.

Book illustrated by Harris, Emily Cumming (1837-1925). Published in Nelson, N.Z, by H.D. Jackson in 1890. Emily Cumming Harris was one of New Zealand's first professional women painters. She chiefly painted New Zealand plants and flowers and worked mainly in water colour.
