Er is in de hortus ook een kleine vlinderkas met exotische vlinders. Best lastig om te fotograferen omdat ze vaak met die mooie vleugels dicht zitten. Dit exemplaar leek het me wat makkelijker te maken door op m'n hand te gaan zitten. Jammer genoeg zat het koordje van m'n camera om die hand dus ik moest me in wat bochten wringen om deze foto te maken. Deze vlinder was echt apart vanwege de doorschijnende vleugels.

The oldest tree in the Hortus, planted in 1601 - Goudenregen, Laburnum

A green treasure hidden in the historical centre of Leiden. Founded in 1590, this is the oldest botanical garden in the Netherlands and one of the oldest in the world.

No leaves left at all on this tree. it looks as if caterpillars have had them all.
