Though Boston Winter on City Hall Plaza looks a little flat in the morning light (and before it opened for the day), when it gets dark it's a "merry complex boast[ing] an 11,000-square-foot ice skating path, a holiday shopping market made up of more than 40 chalets, a pedal-powered light-up tree, plenty of snack and cocoa vendors, a beverage hall called 'The Urban Lodge,' and more."

Union Oyster House, Union Street, Boston, MA
Union Oyster House is the oldest restaurant in continuous service in the US. It was opened in 1826. The building itself was constructed around 1705 and it housed different businesses. One of the first US newspapers, the Massachusetts Spy was published here in 1771. Louis Philippe, future king of France (1830-1848) rented the second floor during his American exile in 1796. He earned his living by teaching French to young ladies. The first American waitress worked there starting in the early 1920s. The Kennedy Clan has patronized the Union Oyster House for years. J.F.K. loved privacy of the upstairs dining room. His favorite booth "The Kennedy Booth" has since been dedicated in his memory.
