Historic Boston Light on Little Brewster Island in outer Boston Harbor, Massachusetts. The light station was the first established in 1716. The current lighthouse is the second at this location after the first was destroyed by the British in 1776. This lighthouse was constructed in 1783 and is a round stone tower with lantern room and gallery. In 1859, the tower was raised from 75 ft to 89 ft.
The light has a focal plane of 102 ft and a range of 27 miles. In 1998 the light was the last in the United State to be automated.
The Boston Harbor Light was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1966 (NRHP No. 66000133 as the Boston Light). It was designated a National Historic Landmark on January 29, 1964. The National Park Service Statement of Significance stated:
“Site of the first lighthouse in North America, which was destroyed by the British in 1776. The reconstructed 89-foot tower is made up of rubble stone, granite, and brick.”

While the Boston & Maine has been gone for nearly 40 years, there are still plenty of reminders still in service today of the fallen New England railroad. The spacers behind the Guilford geeps are both Boston & Maine relics, one of which retains its original paint and lettering.

Morning light, nights one weakness. Sunday at South Station with not a sole out looking for adventure.
Buses travelling through Boston's Market Place do so at a snail's pace, with hazard lights and an audible warning.

This memorial, dedicated to the four people who died during the Boston Marathon bombing, was started on Beacon Street and was moved to Copley Place after the location was opened to the public again. People are quiet as they move past the flowers, signs and candles that others have left. There is a little talking, but mostly silence. The press is still there at the curb's edge, but even they are in their own little bubbles not making much noise. People are taking lots of photos, and ordinarily it might seem disrespectful, but I think many are taking them because they want to remember what happened, and the warm, caring response that came in terror's wake. Peace to Sean Collier, Krystle Bell, Lu Ling, and Martin Richard

Boston City Hall, in concrete. They really should do something with the big brick plaza where this sits. I think from some angles the building is not that bad. Apparently it was inspired by Le Corbusier:
