Bei unserer Reise durch Malaysia wanderten wir kilometerlang an der Küste entlang. Abseits der Touri-Pfade konnten wir kein Moped mieten.

What do you do on a totally rainy weekend - of course - you visit dear Flickr friends from Pocking who have planned a photo trip to Schärding am Inn. So I tried to find a suitable photo for this motif and weather - black and white in sepia with an old picture frame seemed to fit exactly :-)
Neuhaus am Inn Castle
Neuhaus Castle is located in Neuhaus am Inn, right on the border with Austria on the banks of the Inn.
In the 14th century it was built on a rock by the Bavarian dukes to protect the Inn Bridge from Schärding. From 1750 to 1752 it was rebuilt in the Rococo style.
Schärding was once at the center of the salt trade between Bavaria and Bohemia. The salt extracted in Hallein and Reichenhall was transported on the Salzach and Inn rivers to Schärding, which was still in Bavaria at the time, on specially constructed ships, the Platten. Two such boats form the frame for the castle here.
Was macht man an einem total verregneten Wochenende - na klar - man besucht liebe Flickr-Freunde aus Pocking, die einen Foto-Trip nach Schärding am Inn geplant haben. So habe ich versucht ein passendes Foto zu diesem Motiv und Wetter herauszusuchen - schwarz-weiß in Sepia mit altem Bilderrahmen schien genau zu passen :-)
Schloss Neuhaus am Inn
Das Schloss Neuhaus steht in Neuhaus am Inn direkt an der Grenze zu Österreich am Innufer.
Im 14. Jahrhundert wurde es von den bayerischen Herzögen zum Schutz der Innbrücke von Schärding auf einem Felsen erbaut. 1750 bis 1752 erfolgte der Umbau im Stil des Rokoko.
Schärding stand ja einst im Mittelpunkt des Salzhandels zwischen Bayern und Böhmen. Auf besonders konstruierten Schiffen, den Plätten, wurde das in Hallein und Reichenhall gewonnene Salz auf der Salzach und dem Inn bis hin zum damals noch bayerischen Schärding befördert. Zwei solcher Boote bilden hier den Rahmen für das Schloss.

70 Kilometer weiter stromaufwärts wird der Fluss ins enge Tal gepresst, ist stellenweise von ungestümer Wildheit. Herrliche Wasserfälle bei Kulen Vakuf und Martin Brod ....

Der als Schleswig-Holsteinischer Canal bzw. Schleswig-Holsteinischer Kanal erbaute Eider-Kanal bzw. Eider-Canal verband von 1784 bis 1890 die Kieler Förde bei Kiel-Holtenau mit dem natürlichen Flusslauf der Untereider bei Rendsburg. Der Kanal bildete für die Schifffahrt zusammen mit der Eider eine Wasserstraße zwischen der Nordsee und der Ostsee.
Tschüss Sommer! Boote auf dem Wannsee
I did not use one of the vintage presets in Siver Efex, but tweaked the settings in Lightroom and SE myself, because I was curious to see how the vintage effect is created, and then added some extra colour in Color Efex (I used the "Graduated Filters" for the blueish parts twice).
These boats are on the Greater Wannsee, a lake in the Grunewald area of Berlin (technically it's not a lake, but a bight of the river Havel, but it is commonly known as a lake and one of the biggest in Berlin). The bank path is not entirely freely accessible for the public, because several sailing-/yachting and sailboarding clubs are situated on the Wannsee's bank. A famous lido is the Strandbad Wannsee, opened in 1907 as an open air bath for families. To this day it is a very poular recreational area in the summer time and features one of the longest inland beaches in Europe.
