The Coster Legend - a Haarlem fantasy of bookprint invention in the early 15th century
In early 15th century Laurens Janszoon Coster went for a walk in the Haarlemmerhout park. There he carved a letter in the bark of a tree. The letter fell down in the sand. It left an imprint. This is how Coster got the idea for bookprint. His helper Johann Gutenberg stole his idea and went to Mainz in Germany to conduct further experiments and is now regarded as the inventor of bookprint.
The claim that Coster invented bookprint, or even his existence, cannot be verified. It's known as the Coster legend. The Coster Legend - a Haarlem fantasy of bookprint invention in the early 15th century

National Folk Museum of Korea is a national museum of South Korea, located within the grounds of the Gyeongbokgung Palace in Jongno-gu, Seoul, and uses replicas of historical objects to illustrate the history of traditional life of the Korean people.
HISTORY
The museum was established on 8 November 1945 by the U.S. Government and opened on 25 April 1946 at the City Administration Memorial Hall. When the museum was merged with National Museum of Korea, its collection of 4,555 artifacts was moved to the latter's Mt Namsan site. In 1975, when the National Museum moved onto the grounds of Gyeongbokgung Palace, it moved along with it into the Modern Art Museum Building. In 1993 it opened in its present site, which was the former site of the National Museum of Korea. The building's design is based on various historical buildings around South Korea.
COLLECTION
The museum has three main exhibition halls, with over 98,000 artifacts: History of Korean People features materials of everyday life in Korea from prehistoric times to the end of the Joseon Dynasty in 1910; Korean Way of Life, which illustrates Korean villagers in ancient times; and Life Cycle of the Koreans, which depicts the deep roots of Confucianism in Korean culture and how this ideology gave rise to most of the culture's customs.
The museum also features open-air exhibits, such as replicas of spirit posts where villagers used to pray, stone piles for worship, grinding mills, rice storage shelters and pits for kimchi pots.

This manuscript was probably intended for novices in a Netherlands Augustinian cloister. An engraving of the face of Christ has been pasted on a page that had been deliberately left blank. The type of Christ in the - until now - unknown print strongly resembles painted versions by Flemish masters. This illustrates the gradual transition from the handwritten to the printed world.
The Coffee Shop Chronicles of New Orleans
The agnostic, ten-years-sober son of a Baptist minister, B. Sammy Singleton has an opinion about everything. He also has a guidebook on New Orleans coffee shops to write. But when his best friend Catfish—reluctant heir to the Beaucoeur sugarcane fortune—is arrested for “grave robbing” and then goes missing, events spin out of control. The outcome is a personal journey into a past Sammy thought he had laid to rest, an excavation of buried truths about himself and about what the tragedy-bound Catfish calls the American Holocaust.
Set in the French Quarter and Faubourgs Marigny and Tremé, The Coffee Shop Chronicles of New Orleans - Part 1 blends satire, mystery, and historical fiction. The book is narrated and “reviews” local coffee shops including CC’s, Rue de la Course, Café du Monde, Café Rose Nicaud, and Envie, while exploring such themes as the “sacrament” of coffee drinking, living sober, New Orleans’ civil rights history, and the legacy of slavery and Jim Crow in America.

Not the inventor of bookprinting. Neither was Gutenberg. Probably the Chinese can take the credit for inventing everything from printing to gunpowder.

For the Stitching Inspiration challenge. I saw love with all those x's and o's. Cardstock: Vintage Cream, with black & white patterned paper that looks like stitches. Stamps: KIS: Love in Pure Poppy and Versafine Onyx. Dies: Bookprint Alphabet in Pure Poppy. Heart die from Framed Out 11 in Vintage Cream, popped up on foam. This is for David when he goes to the synagogue president's workshop in Baltimore in August. Thanks for looking!
I saw this happy and confetti-filled card altenewblog.com/2017/12/30/celebrate-3-2/ on the Altenew blog last month and knew it would be a perfect masculine birthday card. I used the back of #PapertreyInk Dot Spot to create my circles. I left a little spot open so that the die-cut word, from PTI's Bookprint Alphabet, could more easily be seen. I inked up those circles in three teal shades: The Ton's Blue Diamond, PTI's Hawaiian Shores, and The Ton's Hot Tourmaline. I was hoping the little dots, which I wanted to look like confetti, would be clearer in silver embossing powder, but they don't give as much shine as I had hoped. It's made on PTI's stamper's select, and layered on Soft Stone.
This went out to my FIL who celebrated his 78th birthday this month. I'm super-pleased and I know I will try this design again!
