In Her Kitchen is an evocative, loving portrait of these cherished family members and the ways they return that affection–no matter where in the world you sit down for dinner.

A tiny diver seen fridayafternoon in the impressive and wonderful bookprinting company Wilco in Amersfoort.
(Swedish: Gamla Boktryckargården) In the 1600s the house was owned by Erich Lauringer, a book printer. His heirs have preserved the house very well.
The house is built of horizontal logs that are interlocked at the corners of the rooms by notching. The overlapping ends of the logs are paneled: the black "knot boxes" (Swedish: knutlådor). Outside the logs there is a lid panel that is painted with traditional red paint containing pigment from the copper-mine in Falun, Dalecarlia.
Västerås was a city already in the 1200s. The alleys in the district Kyrkbacken(next to the cathedral) have never been widened and in 1964 the city decided that the old houses should be preserved.

An advert in the German magazine issued by the "Association of German Advertising Professionals" - Die Reklame zeitschrift des Verbandes Deutscher Reklamefachleute EV and the 1 Januar-Heft 1926 (1 January 1926) issue produced by Verlag Francken & Lang.
The advert, the designer shown as Bohm, is for Förster und Borries - described as "Graphischer Grossbetrieb. Buchdruck, offsetdruck, steindruck. In an erkannter güte und prieswürdigkeit" - a 'large printing company who worked in book printing, offset and lithography' and were noted for their quality. It appears that the company, formed in 1881 in Zwickau and the partnership with Herr Borries dating from 1888, are happily still in business as printers. They were regarded from their earliest years as exemplary in terms of colour printing and it seems the Hamburg office was opened because of the importance of the ocean liner companies based in the city and that F&B printed brochures, etc., for. The company survived many vicissitudes in post-war East Germany including finally being nationalised in 1971 as VEB Graphische Werke Zwickau. Latterly members of the Föster family are again involved in the reprivatised concern post-unification. Their current website uses a version of the "F" key seen here.

"In recent years collaborative art practices have been elevated to the mainstream of music culture and book print production, artistic collaborations have now become one of the most popular ways that artists can choose to operate in order to cross over to larger audiences." -Tomitheos

I really wanted to take part in Janet's bookprint 90 scrambler but I got distracted by my dinner guest (namely my mother) and missed it. And I didn't find a book that I was willing to tear a page out of, so yesterday (Sunday) I got the next best thing, a page from an old magazine. I pasted it onto a light weight white CS with gesso, then add a thin layer of the to on selected area (so the page is less shiny). After it dried, I inked up the Leaf and Floral BG stamp with Old Paper, Crushed Olive, and Peel Paint and stamp on the book print panel. Then add a tiny bit Barn Door on some parts of the edge. Next I die cut with Fancy Die Butterfly (then mount the book print panel onto a cream card base). I inked the butterfly lightly with Spun Sugar and Barn Door and adhere with dimension tape. Added green pearl (Bo Bunny) and voila!

Ps. Here's a photo of what I cooked Saturday.

Embossing
Embossing involves raising areas of a card surface above the level of the rest. The diagram below shows a coat of arms that has been embossed on bizcard. The images stands out from the card as it has been produced by a stamp which presses the card to the correct shape.
My backgrounds were newspaper which I coloured with Twinkling H2o's and then cut out a diagonal of more newspaper and embellished with a torso image covered in bookprint and tied with a colourful cord.

Raised Ink
Raised Ink provides small to large print runs of a variety of custom printed products for businesses and organizations. This raised ink feeling is thought to give a memorable higher quality feeling to what would normally be a flat printed surface.

But he did recently pass through. As a university student in Austin, Texas, I read his book Love in the Western World. Now, in Richmond, Virginia and fifty years later, he has shown up in Calvin Tomkins’ book Duchamp. As reported in Tomkins’ book, the French artist Marcel Duchamp was a guest of de Rougement, a Swiss writer/philosopher working in the US for the Voice of America, and spending his summer at New York state’s Lake George. Parisian café culture along with Paris' many salons, meant that practically every artist knew every other artist, and of course the occasional philosopher added to the mix. By the way, although not stated in Tomkins’ book, the American photographer Alfred Stieglitz kept a summer house at Lake George for many years. I cannot help but wonder if this was where Duchamp visited de Rougement. Denis de Rougement died in 1985.
Part 2. I Can't See
Tomkins' book, published by the Museum of Modern Art in New York, is a 2014 revised edition of the 1996 edition published by Henry Holt. Much of the paper in this 2014 edition has the peculiar property of reflecting sunlight so strongly that, to the naked eye, that part of the text cannot be read. As a bonus, that part of the type changes from regular black to gold. Finally, reflective flecks are scattered about. This book was printed and bound in Malasia, as best as I can tell using Nevia Gold Matt paper. (I have some uncertainty regarding the name of the line of paper versus the name of the paper manufacturer.)
