Vulcan To The Sky Trust's Avro 698 Vulcan B2, XH558, (G-VLCN), (c/n SET 12), displays it's open bomb bay to the massed spectators at Cosford's 2014 Airshow.
Hopefully this magnificent British aircraft will grace our skies for a while longer, thrilling both young and old with it's superb display.

If you haven’t watched “Last Man on Earth,” I suggest you do so now. It takes place after a deadly virus kills most of the earth’s population in the year 2020. (The show premiered in 2015.)
This is faux-leather bomber jacket number three. I find them at thrift stores and wear them until the pleather peels off. I suppose that means I should find a “real” version, but the math doesn’t work out for a few more years since each of these has been under $10.

For a more immersive airshow experience, these controlled and simulated aerial bombs were set off on the ground as some off the warbirds thundered overhead. These were NOT dropped from any plane, but set off on the ground far away from us spectators, and by ordinance professionals, one of which can be seen in the bottom left of the image above. Not true bombs, but probably very large 'firecrackers'!!

Thanks to the cooperation of the public, and some fast work by police officers and other members of the emergency services, nobody was killed and only a small number of people were injured.

Throw back to the time I flew on the Nine o Nine over the ocean for a sunset flight. The Nine o Nine was in service from 1943 to 1945, and sadly crashed in 2019 burning up everything but the tail and wing.

Common terns making their bomb runs on me. You can see them take off from that "Flat Top" across the mud slough. I have never seen such incredible aggressiveness to defend their base and I wasn't even close.

These bomb shelters on Mare Island were designed to protect the inhabitants since WW2. It's easy to think "lucky them... they get the bomb shelters for protection". But if you step inside them you might think, "There's no way I'd want to go in there for umpteen hours".
Brief letter generously translated by xiphiphilos; sent to a Leutnant Leyers by Vizefeldwebel Hermann von Bruch, presumably the chap in the centre of the photograph, the author sends a friendly memento of their time in Tarnopol in Galicia.
Hanging on the wall behind the two men and reminiscent of the sword of Damocles, is an unexploded aerial bomb, probably souvenired after being rendered safe with the removal of the explosive material within its casing.
