SKAGIT VALLEY, WASH. – Boldly Grown Farm, a 60-acre family run farm utilized the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) to invest in energy efficiency. As part of the first funding round of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), farm owners, Amy Frye and Jacob Slosberg, in partnership with the local Skagit Conservation District, and NRCS was able to support a cold storage insulation installation project for improved heating and reduce energy costs, helping to reduce freezing and loss for vegetables like the ones being grown here. In the spring of 2023, the farm received an Environmental Quality Incentive Program (EQIP) contract for an insulation project to make their packing warehouse more energy efficient. After completing the program candidates choose whether they want to continue their military career and have the option of joining the Regular Force, Reserves, or Canadian Rangers. This year's program concluded on August 11, 2023.
