Tried to duplicate a shot of the Wendella sign taken at night (November 22, 2021) but parked cars and pillars got in the way. Shot in Chicago, Illinois.

We took a boat tour several days ago to explore the landscape of limestone karst at the Trang An river complex. It was raining all day and there were only few tourists taking the ride. I took the above photo of the boats and the paddling ladies waiting for their turn to row. Each boat can take up to three passengers, is manually rowed, and has to navigate through a series of narrow caves going through the limestone karst. The boat ride took 1.5 hours to complete and our tour guide suggested a tip of 50,000 Vietnamese dong/boat, equivalent to 2 USD. Obviously we did not follow his well intended instruction.

Beautiful times from the past. Late afternoon sun in setting mode. Pl. see magnified.

A view of a canal in Venice, Italy.

The African Fish Eagle (Haliaeetus vocifer) has two distinct calls. In flight or perched, the sound is something like the American Bald Eagle. When near the nest its call is more of a 'quock' sound - the female is a little shriller and less mellow than the male. So well known and clear is the call of this bird that it is often known as 'the voice of Africa'.

Although, as its name suggests, it feeds extensively on fish, in some areas it preys on flamingoes and other water birds. Their main diet is fish, sometimes dead, but mostly caught live. Catfish and lungfish are caught most frequently. Larger prey are eaten on the ground next to the water.

Having swooped in to pick up the bait, this African Fish Eagle went and perched on a dead tree on the banks of Lake Baringo, Kenya to enjoy it's breakfast.

Beautiful time at the Ganges.

I think this one captures the flavour of boating in the Ganges at Benares/Varanasi with gaily colored boats and exotic architecture of the ghats and a host of photogs trying to capture it..

Built on landfill, floating on lagoons. Photo taken from a recreational boat owned by a friend who lives in one of these beautiful homes.

Sometimes, black and white can do even more justice to the magnificence of a scene. This one taken in Wayanad, Kerala.

This was the prime time for fall colors in the Northwest Territories. We had a fantastic boat ride on a calm day which gave us gorgeous reflections. Taken on the Mackenzie River, which is the longest river system in Canada. It is 1025 miles long and runs through the Canadian north to the Beaufort Sea. It is 1-2 miles wide and if there are islands, it is 3-4 miles wide. Taken from Fort Providence, Northwest Territories, Canada. Another photo is in the comment box.

Thank you for your visit and comments. They are very much appreciated.
