Male and female Blue Jays are almost identical in appearance. Males are just slightly larger than females.
The blue jay is a passerine bird in the family Corvidae, native to eastern North America. It lives in most of the eastern and central United States; some eastern populations may be migratory. This beautiful Bluejay came to feed in my garden. Because of its smaller size, I think it's an offspring of a couple that are so much bigger compared to this one. They're always fun to see!
Winter is always a good time to shoot birds - this blue jay caught going after a dried corn cob.
I watched it take of about 8-10 kernels off the cob right in a row in less than a minute.

Never have had much success with getting a clean shot of birds. Trying to change that. Really are very beautiful creatures. Enjoying watching them enjoying being birds.
