The Blue Jay is a very pretty bird and can be quite entertaining. It is very common but can be taken for granted for that very reason. They love peanuts and sunflower seeds. This is in a friends backyard.

Not sure if this is pre- or post-moult. But then it really does not matter because as long as you look good, you feel good.

Have a nice week!

Lots of noise in the backyard as a family of Jays arrived with some very hungry and vocal youngsters. Parents headed to the peanut feeders while the youngsters waited in the trees for tidbits to be be fed to them. They then proceeded to the Pear tree where the parents gorged and the youngsters complained about not being fed. It won't take them long to figure it all out and start attacking the pears. Good thing there are lots of pears this year. There still should be some left for us.

Dang I love backyard birding from the comfort of my computer chair...this is one of the bluejays that stopped by for the peanut buffet! Happy New Year everyone!
