Male and female Blue Jays are almost identical in appearance. Males are just slightly larger than females.

 

The blue jay is a passerine bird in the family Corvidae, native to eastern North America. It lives in most of the eastern and central United States; some eastern populations may be migratory. Resident populations are also found in Newfoundland, Canada; breeding populations are found across southern Canada. Wikipedia

This beautiful Bluejay came to feed in my garden. Because of its smaller size, I think it's an offspring of a couple that are so much bigger compared to this one. They're always fun to see!

Winter is always a good time to shoot birds - this blue jay caught going after a dried corn cob.

I watched it take of about 8-10 kernels off the cob right in a row in less than a minute.

from my garden, taken from inside through a dirty window!

Haven't had much snow yet this winter, but yesterday it snowed some, now today we have rain, making everything so slushy! This pretty Bluejay was visiting the feeder! Best viewed large!

Never have had much success with getting a clean shot of birds. Trying to change that. Really are very beautiful creatures. Enjoying watching them enjoying being birds.
