Four FA-18 jets pass in front of Sutro Tower during a Blue Angels practice flight on Friday over San Francisco Bay.
This was about as close as they flew to us on Fort Pickens, Florida. Was very lucky to have got such a crisp photo. This one's definitely a keeper! Enjoy!
This was by far the best shot I got; I had only one other opportunity when they flew this close but that time I blew it with my camera. The planes spend most of their time flying over Lake Washington, which can't be seen from my building, but every once in a while they'd fly over the middle of Seattle, which put them very close to directly above where I was.
The Blue Angels were back in town this weekend, and rather than take another batch of "airshow" shots I decided to try to capture them above the city . . . a tougher assignment than I bargained for. It's a real rush when you are going about your day to day business only to hear, and feel the roar of the jets. And then you return to your normal routine . . . I find it somewhat surreal . . .
