Blue Angels at Miramar Airshow 2006

Fat Albert is the Lockheed C-130 Hercules that is part of the Blue Angels show. The massive plane makes a number of passes and performs low altitude maneuvers like the one shown here before the jets show up.

 

Even better...the Marine Corps plane is piloted by the first woman in the history of the Blue Angels team. I sure hope there will be more to come!

The mission of the Blue Angels is to showcase teamwork and professionalism of the U. S. The "Blue Angels" are a flight demonstration squadron of the United States Navy. Formed in 1946, the unit is the second oldest formal aerobatic team in the world, after the French Patrouille de France formed in 1931. The team, composed of six Navy and one Marine Corps demonstration pilot, fly Boeing F/A-18 Super Hornets and a Lockheed C-130J support airraft
