"Blue Christmas" is a Christmas song written by Billy Hayes and Jay W. Johnson. The heart-broken tale of unrequited love during the holidays had long been considered a Christmas staple of country music, having been recorded by Ernest Tubb in 1948. Elvis Presley effectively made "Blue Christmas" a steadfast rock-and-roll holiday classic by recording it in his signature style in 1957. The song has since been recorded by a host of rock and country artists, as well as those of other genres.

Most of you are probably wondering what this is, well, it's actually Petro-Canada's roof logotype (ctrl+click to see Petro-Canada on new tab) on a clear blue sky. My mistake is that I should've waited for at least a speck of cloud or a flock of birds. I guess that's how it is, we learn from our mistakes.

This Blue Faced Honeyeater was calling out loudly for the rest of its family to come and have some morning tea out behind our back yard.At least that's what I believe as it looked all around for them just afterwards.

I dont know what this flower is. ........was part of some "wild flowers" I scattered in the garden last year. It is about half inch in size. Any help on the ID would be appreciated.

by the way, for those of you who ask about my black backgrounds....I use the black trampoline in my backyard for most shots. (making sure I adjust my camera settings etc)

VIEW BIGGER - a better perspective

Geysir geothermal fields is one of the greatest natural attractions of Iceland and part of the famous Golden Circle Tour. It is located in Haukadalur which is about 90 minutes drive east of Reykjavik.

The English word geyser (a periodically spouting hot spring) derives from Geysir. The name Geysir itself is derived from the Icelandic verb geysa, "to gush", the verb from Old Norse.

The Great Geysir, or Stori-Geysir, has been dormant since 1916 when it suddenly ceased to spout. It came to life only once in 1935, and as quickly went back to sleep. Though the Great Geysir itself is now more or less inactive, the area surrounding it is geothermically very active with many smaller hot springs. The attraction of the area is now Strokkur (The Churn), another geyser 100 meters south of the Great Geysir, which erupts at regular intervals every 10 minutes or so and its white column of boiling water can reach as high as 30 meters.

Iceland's most popular clothing brand has also inherited the same name Geysir and they have a number of stores all around Iceland. They are particularly known for their Iceland blankets & sweaters.
