Camp Darby Fitness Center conducted free Blood Pressure Screening as part of National Physical Fitness Month. High blood pressure is known as the “silent killer” because it has no symptoms, hypertension (high blood pressure) is a major risk factor for stroke and cardiovascular disease. Here, making up the numbers, is a terrible mobile phone shot of the sphygmo having recorded my blood pressure.
It's a bit lower than it normally is, which is the combination of a relaxing day and a good medication regime.
Must try harder for tomorrow...

My heart rate is 73 bpm (good)
My blood-oxygen saturation is 100% (couldn't be better)
My arterial BP is 162/83 (time to book a visit to the hypertension clinic!)
Too much gym + not enough salt + not staying late enough at work + lots of alcohol = much lower blood pressure :)

During a medical mission at the Ghormach Clinic, Capt. Patel and Capt. Jennifer Wheeler, both doctors with 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, conduct an exam on a local girl Oct. 3. One of the complications of diabetes is hypertension. Complications can occur either at the micro and/or macro vascular level. One way to monitor cardiac health and vascular status is to routinely check one's blood pressure. I monitor my blood pressure at least twice a day to make sure that it is within normal range (120 systolic/80 diastolic). The sphygmomanometer is part of my diabetes management kit.
There is no cure for diabetes, yet.

Day Sixty-One~ Doctor Visit
Dominic was still not quite right with his tummy, so I decided it was time to see the pediatrician. She is running all kinds of blood panels, looking at food allergies, celiac disease, gluten intolerance, irritable bowel syndrome, thyroid panel, metabolic panel, and a CBC. We will get that done soon. She also referred us to a pediatric gastroenterologist. Whew. I feel like we are on the right track.
