减字谱记载的是指法，动作，弦序和徽位，而不记音高和节奏，属于指法谱。所以不同的人谈出来的东西差别可能非常大。这也是为什么现代人整理古琴曲的时候，需要重新打谱。而且打出来的谱必然带有琴师自己的理解。和古时候弹得可能有很大差别。当然古时的人弹同样的谱子效果也不一样。
话再说得远一点，这种音乐形式实际上很和中国人传统文人的胃口，就像中国山水画一样。重要的不是曲子（画）本身，而是它表达出的意境。
