I am sure most of you would recognize this place instantly. This is the Inverted Pyramid prominently featured on the concluding pages of Dan Brown’s international bestseller The Da Vinci Code and in the recent movie by the same name. There are all sorts of mythology associated with this structure. According to Brown the tiny stone pyramid is actually only the apex of a larger pyramid (possibly the same size as the inverted pyramid above), embedded in the floor as a secret chamber. This hidden submerged pyramid is hinted to hold the remains of Mary Magdalene, plus a set of ancient documents setting out the “true” story of early Christianity. These items are identified as the real Holy Grail, hidden away by a secret society when the new Louvre foyer was constructed in the 1980s and 1990s. But there is also an older interpretation of the Inverted Pyramid in Raphaël Aurillac’s work Le guide du Paris maçonnique. Aurillac sees the downward-pointing pyramid as expressing the Rosicrucian motto V.I.T.R.I.O.L. (Visita Interiorem Terrae Rectificandoque / Invenies Occultum Lapidem, “Visit the interior of the earth and… you will find the secret stone”).

But enough with all the mythologies… In reality, even though it is an engineering masterpiece, it is no more than a simple skylight at the underground entrance to the Louve in Paris. But to these kids it is just a fascinating play thing. They seemed to be fascinated by this ginormous glass pyramid almost floating in mid-air and that they could see all the people walking over it… I am not sure if you can see the expression of the each of the girls faces at this resolution, or the etching on the glass, or that two the girls have their hands over the tips both the pyramids at the same time, etc… I am just glad I just happened to be at the right place at the right time to capture this moment…

Vi kjører videre mot Cape Coast fort, det andre slavefortet vi skal besøke i Ghana, men stopper for å se Elmina fort fra avstand.

You'd think I had tons of time on my hands the way I keep changing graphics.
