SpaceX Falcon Heavy launch, and booster landing, with the USSF-67 mission from LC-39A on NASA's Kennedy Space Center at 5:56 p.m.

With the record setting 10th launch of booster B1051, SpaceX added another 60 broadband Starlink satellites to the fleet, not totaling more than 1600. Launch occurred at 2:42 a.m. EDT from SLC-40 on the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station

SpaceX booster B1058 returned to Port Canaveral this morning after its 7th flight, along with the new fairing recovery ship Shelia Bordelon.

SpaceX launched another batch of Starlink satellites at 6:01 EDT. Composite image with one showing the stars and the Milky Way, which is slightly visible, and the other showing the launch.

After 2 months without a launch, this was a beautiful early morning launch at 3:14 a.m. Sunday, the #SpaceX #CRS23 #Falcon9 sent a #CargoDragon capsule full of food, equipment, supplies and experiments to the Space Station. It was also the first booster to land on the new SpaceX automated droneship A Shortfall of Gravitas (ASOG).

SpaceX successfully launched the latest batch of 60 Starlink satellites last night at 10:59 p.m. EST from SLC-40 on the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. But the first stage booster (B1059) failed to land on the drone ship "Of Course I Still Love You", ending the steak of 24 successful recoveries in a row.

The Typhoon FGR4 provides the RAF with a highly capable and extremely agile multi-role combat aircraft, capable of being deployed in the full spectrum of air operations, including air policing, peace support and high intensity conflict.

Initially deployed in the air-to-air role as the Typhoon F2, the aircraft now has a potent and precise multirole capability.

The pilot can carry out many functions by voice command or through a hands-on stick and throttle system. Combined with an advanced cockpit and the HEA (Helmet equipment assembly) the pilot is superbly equipped for all aspects of air operations.

Britain, Germany, Italy and Spain formally agreed to start development of the aircraft in 1988 with contracts for a first batch of 148 aircraft – of which 53 were for the RAF – signed ten years later. Deliveries to the RAF started in 2003 to 17(R) Sqn who were based at BAE Systems Warton Aerodrome in Lancashire (alongside the factory where the aircraft were assembled) while detailed development and testing of the aircraft was carried out. Formal activation of the first Typhoon Squadron at RAF Coningsby occurred on the 1st Jul 2005.

The aircraft took over responsibility for UK QRA on 29 Jun 2007 and was formally declared as an advanced Air Defence platform on 1 Jan 2008.

Lockheed Martin is the prime contractor but the UK is the only Level 1 partner with the US. A number of British companies, including BAE Systems and Rolls-Royce will have significant industrial work-share in construction and development of the aircraft. The Lightning II will provide UK Defence with a 5th Generation (low observable, supersonic, enhanced data fusion), multi-role, all weather, day and night aircraft that will have the ability to operate from land bases as well as the Queen Elizabeth Class carriers, the first of which is due to accept Lightning II onto her deck in 2018. This basing flexibility will give UK Defence a truly joint expeditionary Combat Air capability well into the 2030’s. The RAF is the lead service for the operation of Lightning II and, like the Harrier before, the Joint Lightning II Force will be manned by both RAF and RN personnel.

SpaceX booster B1058 returned to Port Canaveral this morning after its 7th flight, along with the new fairing recovery ship Shelia Bordelon.

Beautiful early evening for the #SpaceX launch with #OneWeb-15 mission putting up another 40 broadband internet satellites from LC-39A from NASA's Kennedy Space Center at 5:27 p.m. EST

This is the image from the third camera I fielded for the #Telstar18V #SpaceX launch last Sunday evening, or, technically, Monday morning.

Star trails with rocket streaks are kind of my thing, and when the skies began to clear up, I set up the Canon 7dII with a MIOPs intervalometer. I only had time for 10-ish minutes of trails, but I figured that would be long enough for the desired effect.

The clouds were staying away, and everything was going fine, except for one thing: I forgot to adjust the camera settings for the streak. At about 30 seconds before T-0, I quickly programmed the intervalometer for a 280-second exposure but neglected to change the ISO and f-stop, causing the first few moments of the launch to drown the frame in blown-out white.

The streaks in the foreground are from a couple who were camping in a tent (off frame, to the left), and they emerged shortly before the launch and meandered through the frame. You can see ghostly images of their legs, illuminated by the sea-turtle-rule-defying flashlight.

I wasn't going to post this image, but we're only one week into a five-week break between Florida rocket launches, and signs of withdrawal are already starting to show. (From the DSM-5 "Rocket Launch Withdrawal Induced Obsessive Compulsion Disorders ('RLWIOCD')" section, "Symptom: The photographer regularly reviews photos of past rocket launches for unprocessed and/or unseen images.")

Details:

13 one-second exposures, captured at ISO640 and f5 and one 280-second exposure, also at ISO640 and f5, captured using a Canon 7D2 with an EFS10-22mm lens, all driven by a MIOPs trigger.

SpaceX Launch with the second set of 60 Starlink satellites

SpaceX launched the latest batch of their Starlink high speed internet satellites with the 4-25 mission, at 9:38 a.m. EDT from LC-39A on NASA's Kennedy Space Center

Pictured is the first RAF F-35B (Lightning II) aircraft to arrive on British soil.

With the British aircraft are 2 USAF F-35B’s and two RAF Typhoons.

This 5th Generation STOVL Multi-Role supersonic stealth aircraft will provide the UK with a hugely capable and flexible weapons and sensor platform for decades to come.

Designed to operate from established land bases, austere strips and the new Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carriers, the Lightning will join the Typhoon FGR4 in providing the Combat Air component of UK defence from 2018.

Weather? Other than a slight delay, the weather wasn't a problem at all for the #SpaceX #Telstar18V #Falcon9 launch from LC-40 at 45th Space Wing at Patrick Air Force Base, Fla..

I decided to try for a different shot tonight, something closer to home and wound up in Satellite Beach, Florida for a lovely view of the launch, seen here in a 5-minute exposure. Note the main engine cut off ("MECO"), the break in the streak. I did turn the camera toward the east to see if I could catch the landing burns, but I don't think I have anything usable in that frame.

At 1:18am (ET) on Tuesday, August 7, #SpaceX successfully launched the #Telkom4 #MerahPutih satellite atop a previously flown #Block5 #Falcon9 rocket. This was the first reuse of a Block5, the rocket that is designed to be reused many times.

It was a beautiful night for a launch and the stars were shining brightly so not surprisingly, I did another star-trail + rocket streak composite.

This shows 47 minutes of stars marching around the North star, and 199 seconds of the rocket as it thundered toward space for a successful payload delivery and a successful landing aboard the "Of Course I Still Love You," which was positioned in the Atlantic Ocean.

And a couple new fabrics from Fabric Corner.

I'm trying to keep each block as a charm block, so none of the fabrics repeat in the same block. I've exhausted my print scraps though and I've had to cut some from existing non-scrap stash. I still have plenty of scraps, just not enough variation within those scraps.
