I hand cut, painted, distressed and antiqued a set of blocks to show my love of baskets. Here they are shown in a gift tin filled with paper shred.
Another angle and a miniature shaker kittenhead basket that I wove.
I have been using the back of a carpet to pin out my blocking but it is not quite big enough for round shawls. Given our veranda is literally falling apart I figured I could use nails to hold the blocking wires without causing any noticeable damage.
Finally remade block one - just feel like I have a much better sense of the color mix I'm going for now that I'm further along. Plus my block one was way waaaay too small. So now it's done!
Thank you Linda, for sending such beautiful fabrics to work with. I have appliqued a little hexie flower on one and a scottie dog on the other. Hope you liek them. I will get them off in the post early this week.
Some blocks that I am happily babysitting for a friend. They watch over my atelier from their perch on the shelf in my window, like three silent sentries.
Kelly Hartwell, #42, Artemis Spanou, #15, and Lou Mataly #12, are trying to block Rachel Mathews, #45, and Jacqueline Brewer, #24, from getting the ball.

Welcome Week ends with a bang at UL Lafayette's annual Block Party. Held at the corner of St. Mary and Rex, students are treated to free food, music, t-shirts and other fun, while celebrating life as a Ragin' Cajun.
