As those following at home probably know, I've been featured in Blocks magazine 3 times this year so far.

But this issue was the first, and as such it holds a special place in my heart.

And it finally arrived on my doorstep today.

It's going straight to the poolroom.

Seizing this moment, I captured a photo of them to preserve the memory.

Just a simple Minecraft inspired creation. Having fun with digital Lego and rendering.

The colours might need a bit of tweaking, but I attempted to get them somewhat accurate. I also didn't bother trying to figure out the interlocking of the bricks in the grass block. It can be done, but I just didn't have the free time to build that detail (laziness also might have factored in). The shovel, on the other hand, is actually fully connected together.

On of my husband's friends on the fire dept is a quilter and we decided to exchange a couple of blocks. I don't know what she's making for me, but I made her a rainbow tree. I like it, it's not balanced completely, but what tree really is?

Edit, that was all BS, I actually made this for mamacjt for a special thank you quilt that was made and given to her. :) I just couldn't let her know ahead of time, didn't want to spoil the surprise. :)

No entrance up to Dolbadarn castle because of Wales in lockdown tier 4!

For the dog runs that are starting to take shape

Impressive to see the scale of the place!

Pulley blocks used in high lead logging or skyline logging. Primarily in the west of N. America. This person is using these for an unusual entrance to his property.

A recent study of Arlington House, Margate. I have taken similar before, but this is different enough to warrant an upload.

It appears this cinder block has crawled about 200 yards on the salt flats near Antelope Island?

ktelschow asked to be surprised. She provided a gallery which had a wide variety of colours and pointed us to her other galleries. I noticed that she had a colour spectrum quilt gallery which is where I got the idea for the colours. She mentioned that she liked simple, bold, designer fabrics so I chose a variety of those in a colour spectrum.

The block is from Oh Fransson's Chopped Vegetables Pillows pattern. I used the third technique in the pattern and resized everything to make a 12.5" block.

For me this single image sums up not only the location but UrBex itself. The contrast between beauty and elegance of an age past with decay and abandonment of the present.

Fortunately just a few sheep or I could have been late for work! The young lady shepherd on her quad bike had them moving quickly past me and wasn't using her sheep dogs which were on the back of the bike. The sheep caught the light as they crested the hill on this frosty winter morning.

Edit: I must dedicate this to Schrek the Sheep who died today, 6/6/11. He made world news when he was found hiding in a cave for 6 years and had a huge fleece. He also was shorn on an iceberg of the coast from our city. He was 17 years old or about 90 in human years.

Tanya's block for her Star Studded Rainbow Quilt. I used the Maine pattern from Carol Doak's 50 Paper Pieced Stars book. I choose this pattern because it seemed to echo the feel of her starter block without being an exact copy.

Editors Note...

Once a year a pull out a few sets from years past to start of the new year. In 2024 this year I have went back & revamped one of my favorite severe storms photo shoots of 2018

Back then I over colorized & over saturated the images. Pixelated & not my best work... Images were what I wanted but not the final product. If you want to see those to compare to these remastered images... here is your Flickr Link to that set of images...

But these are Gems of Gems.. I've even added about 50+ images in this set that I wasn't able to work on back in 2018. I even made a video with the old images to kick off the 2023 season... You can watch this right here on Flickr... Click Here ** Please remember I used the old images in this video **

Lightning is my forte... It is why I chase storms. To have an photo opportunity come up like this & traveled only 6 blocks from my home to get these pics...Gotta Luv Nebraska!

About that evening...

An epic night of sunset light and storm light @ twilight. Its almost every storm chasers dreams... or at least, in my own opinion, to get along side of a storm like this, as its firing away some incredible CC & CG every few seconds. What more could you ask for...

I was that Lucky Guy that evening. Just mother nature and I. Close to home after a few long storm chasing jaunts is just fine by me. She was producing and I was capturing every incredible second of this storm.. No Forking Bolt went away that evening without me getting a snap of its presence..

This giant snow slug blocked the way to my next camp. I could have (sort of) easily driven around / through it, but I would have had to drive off road and that's something I try to avoid.

Map location is an approximation.
