or perhaps "blighted still life"

Last week I posted a flower decorated truck used as a lawn ornament - this is the opposite - lawn blight!

Autumn

Fragile, notice that

As autumn starts, a light

Frost crisps up at night

And next day, for a while,

White covers path and lawn.

'Autumn is here, it is,' Sings the stoical blackbird

But by noon pure gold is tossed

On everything. Leaves fall

As if they meant to rise.

Nothing of nature's lost,

The birth, the blight of things,

The bud, the stretching wings.

This slightly rusted old pickup -is tucked away for a winter and part of the neighborhood blight!

Happy Truck Thursday!

Not too far from you Dennis, sorry I didn't have time to contact you. This was near Prairie Moon Native Plant Nursery where we had The Prairie Enthusiast annual picnic and bimonthly board meeting. It was a 7 1/2 hour roundtrip and you know I stretched it to well over 8 hours by taking the long way home.

Getting warmed up for Halloween...

St Columba’s Shrine, a small stone building beside the door to the abbey church, may date from the 9th or 10th century. By this time, Viking raids blighted the coasts of the British Isles, and raids on Columba’s monastery were a frequent occurrence.

Disused storefront. Could be on the main street of any small town in the U.S. The advent of large chain retailers drove many small businesses into extinction. This one happens to be in Lawn, Texas.
