Found this little claw next to the trail, not far from the Wisconsin. Leftover lunch I suppose. Plenty of otters, raccoons, mink and fishers that probably all love a tasty crayfish now and again.
Funny how the camera catches us differently sometimes! I can see a bit of me as a young man in this one! 😏
Landfill salvage from vacant lots on Zerega Avenue, Bronx,
New York. The vacant lots extended behind where Dominick's Restaurant had been.
There's a bit of a story to this one, I crossed from the other side of the brook to this side to get a better shot. I slipped and fell backwards into the brook. I had the Hasselblad in my left hand and while I fell, all I could think was "Not the camera! Not the camera!" so I held it up high while I clambered out onto the bank. Then I thought "Might as well take the damn picture first," so I took this picture standing there dripping, soaked from the neck down.
I thought I had succeeded in keeping the camera dry, but as you can see in the previous picture, some water got into the film magazine, it ruined half the film. Oh well.
Then I looked down and saw that my shoulder bag was also quite wet. I'd fallen on top of it, it had been fully submersed. I opened it and took out my Zeiss Makro-Planar 120 mm lens. I took off the lens cap and buckets of water just poured out of the lens itself. Bummer.
When I got back home a week later, our expert Hasselblad repair guy Will van Manen (highly recommended) diagnosed the shutter/aperture combo a total loss, but the glass was OK, so he replaced the shutter. Luckily, the lens is now like brand new.

So I've had a bit of a emotional wobble recently (hence no new pics for little while), well certainly since returning from Berlin. At the heart of it is the realisation that after almost 3 years of aiming for this day, it's now around 12 weeks away and I'm about to take the most momentous step in my life.
In all this time I've never had a single doubt that this is who I should be, but a couple of less than helpful remarks (or was it an overdose of ice-cream in Berlin!) and it triggered the whole 'am I doing this for the right reasons' questioning.
Sometimes it's good to question yoursef, it's so easy to get locked in to an echo chamber where everything is confirmed.
Mum and I have talked almost daily since these questions, for a time, overwhelmed me and she helped me see not just my future but also my past in a different light. She's told me when I was very young, pre school, I spent alot of time dressed if not feminine, then certainly ambiguously and with my long blonde hair I was often mistaken for a little girl. I think I've always been female without necessarily having the vocabulary to express that feeling to another person.
Anyways I'm feeling more sure than ever that all that I've done and plan on doing to my body is 100% right for me.
Whilst I'm no professional, if anyone out there is having similar doubts or insecurities don't be afraid to send me a message.

Since I only had 114 photos to work with, this time slice image came out a little choppy, but I kind of like the look of it. It reminds me of the 16-bit graphics in the video games I played as a kid.
Were moving a good bit out the 1970's for this one, though still a classic nonetheless. This set of Bose speakers (couldn't get both speakers in the same shot) was introduced in the late 1980's (per this review dated 1989). Also seen at Rick's in Hernando, and at the $350 per pair asking price, another great bargain, seeing how that same linked review claimed they were $1300 new back then! Note also all the other cool equipment on the right, which is very likely of 1970's (or even a bit earlier) vintage.
Something a bit different that I came across whilst looking through some of my older photos was this view of Humberside County Council School Bus RAT74W. It is a Bedford VAS5 new in December 1980, with bodywork by Westgate Motors (who I understand were/are an ambulance builder from Wakefield) who built a few other equally stylish bodies for Humberside around the late 1970's/ early 1980's. It was seen on Hull's Ferensway in March 1983.
A Halloween series I decided to do! I got in touch with two people I know who are not only good models, but great at makeup, we had a great time!

This was taken on a cruise ship while en route to the South Pacific in late December last year. After soon discovering that there was a photography contest on the boat for pictures captured on the trip, my family persuaded me into entering this one.
A few days later, my photograph was awarded as one of the three runner up's in the contest - what a pleasing result!
