Bison of Yellowstone. Ever present in Yellowstone, the Bison are a strange animal to behold. They strike me as part cow and part bear. Yellowstone is truly an amazing place with amazing animals, what's your favorite? www.nps.gov/yell/index.htm, You are welcome to share, www.lancerogersphotos.com www.instagram.com/lancerogersphotos

I spent the entire afternoon and evening in Hayden Valley photographing the herds of bison as they crossed the road. I haven't really sorted out the "best" one to work on yet, though.
Bison are huge. Like really huge. Sadly I have nothing for size reference. I think they can come in at around 2 tons. We saw one crossing a road once and it walked right past a small Honda car and pretty much obscured the car due to its size. I'd not like to get charged by one.

En visitant le Yellowstone, voici un habitant qu'on est sûr de rencontrer. Il y en a vraiment beaucoup, mais attention ils peuvent être dangereux. Il y a plus d'accidents avec des bisons qu'avec des ours !
After their near extinction in the late 1800s, bison were saved by the American Bison Society and reintroduced to Wind Cave National Park in 1913-1914.
