An older shot. Her mate had already flown south for the winter and we were surprised to see her still in the nest area. They were not successful in raising a brood this time around.
I was a bit rusty on tracking in-flight shots, but was rather pleased this shot worked as well as it did, all things considered. (Shot free-hand, virtually straight up).

A Mallard relocating, thinking we have food for it. Although we never bring food, many people do (Rithet's Bog, BC).

I just love taking these shots. Most attempts fail but sometimes I get lucky.

As my planned trip to the Farne Islands was cancelled this year I have been looking through some old images not previously posted.
When coming in to land with a mouth full of eels, wings splayed and undercarriage down they provide a great photographic opportunity.
Many thanks to everyone that views and comments on my images - very much appreciated.
I was just about to take a shot of this White Wagtail perched on the stick when it decided to fly off!

These and numerous other brown pelicans were seen from Crissy Field, San Francisco. They were flying back and forth between Golden Gate Bridge and Fort Mason (and possibly further). They also congregated on a small island on Crissy Field Marsh.

Folks have commented about the lack of a horizon line. The shot was taken from above the bird. The blue is the water.
