"Biology, Translational Pharmacology & Toxicology Computation" Online Course at Udemy

www.udemy.com/biology-translational-pharmacology-toxicolo...

Description

Compared with conventional reductionist track that tries to demonstrate complicated ailments by examining human gene, Systems Biology is described by the vision that the implied mechanism of complicated ailments is likely to become the dysregulation of diverse interconnected cellular paths.

With the development of technology and science, Translational Pharmacology has developed as a modern branch to face today’s healthcare requirement and is believed as an expansion of clinical pharmacology.

Pharmacogenetics survey for the target of medication improvement has, in the past, concentrated almost completely on the impact of differences in human genes for giving rise to a particular adverse effect.

Computational Toxicology is actually a vibrant and quickly improving branch that combines data and information from a diversity of sources to improve mathematical and computer-founded models to better recognize and foresee adverse health impacts caused via chemicals, like pharmaceuticals and environmental pollutants.

A perfect ontology should authorize the mapping of datum at different standards of hierarchy. Computational designing of biological frameworks can accomplish combination along various dimensions.

In Summary, Bricolage is actually a methodological procedure that, in case of a public situation, alters and develops not only while but for the sake of the course activity. To do this demands a track of (Biology-Transnational Pharmacology-Toxicology Computation) as an interdisciplinarity approach where habitual disciplinary borders are not merely crossed but the analytical scopes of these diverse disciplines are actively used.

Who this course is for:

People from whole of the world, who have an interest in the following approaches: 1) Biology, 2) Translational Pharmacology, 3) Computational Toxicology, 4) Pharmacogenetics, 5) Computational Modeling Tactics, 6) The Art of Literature, 7) Chemical Biology, 8) Biochemistry, 9) Cheminformatics, 10) Bioinformatics, and 11) Biomedicine. And this course contains thirty-nine resource.

Conceived as the cornerstone of a much broader vision to build up the biomedical sciences industry in Singapore, the Biopolis is a purpose-built biomedical research hub where researchers from the public and private sectors are co-located. Situated in the south-western part of Singapore, the Biopolis is within walking distance of the Buona Vista MRT Station and is near both the National University of Singapore and the National University Hospital.

Developed by JTC Corporation at a cost of S$500 million, Phase 1 of Biopolis comprises a seven-building complex linked by skybridges and offers a built-up area of 185,000 sqm. Two buildings, Chromos and Helios, are dedicated to biomedical players from the private sector. The other five (Centros, Genome, Matrix, Nanos and Proteos) house the biomedical research institutes of the Agency of Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Singapore's lead agency for scientific research and development under the aegis of the Ministry of Trade and Industry. The five research institutes are the BioInformatics Institute (BII), the Bioprocessing Technology Institute (BTI), the Genome Institute of Singapore (GIS), the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IMCB) and the Institute of Bioengineering & Nanotechnology (IBN).

At steady state, a fully occupied Biopolis in Phase 1 will be home to 2,000 scientists. This research community is fully supported by state-of-the-art infrastructure including shared resources and services catering to the full spectrum of R&D activities and graduate training.

The Biopolis is part of a master plan for a much larger 200-hectare development known as one-north and there are provisions for expansion to cater to a growing demand from biotech companies. Occupancy at Biopolis Phase 1 now stands at 90% and development of Biopolis Phase 2 which will be completed by end 2007 will add another 37,000 sqm of built-up area.

A GraphViz visualisation of a very simple workflow (just one "Web service") that can be executed with the Taverna workbench.

SRS links is a service can be used to map between different identifiers used to identify biological sequences (e.g. DNA, Protein) in different databases. This particular workflow maps from SWISSPROT ID:Q49SH1 to EMBL ID:AY581204 (and others). The databank parameter specifies the database to search, e.g. uniprot, the fieldname parameter specifies which fields to search e.g. AllText searches all fields and finally the xref_databank parameter specifies the target database to map to e.g. embl. As well as outputtting an EMBL_id the service produces a report on the operation. See e.g. www.ebi.ac.uk/~srs/, srs.ebi.ac.uk or Taverna for more details.

SWISS2EMBL is just one mapping the service can perform, there are many others, because (molecular) biology is drowning in databases...

We had an enjoyable (well, at least I liked it!) session with MBI students and teachers.
