Junagarh fort is one of the few major forts in Rajasthan which is not built on an hilltop.The modern city of Bikaner has developed around the fort.
The fort complex was built under the supervision of Karan Chand, the sixth ruler of Bikaner, who ruled from 1571 to 1611 AD.

It was a very dull day in February 2005 when I had the opportunity to spend some time at the line side near Bikaner Junction station in Rajasthan. Fortunately, there was still an operational Metre Gauge line serving the station as well as the Broad Gauge line visible in the foreground of this image. Indian Railways YDM-4 6637 was undertaking a spot of stock shunting to provide the MG action.
