Sculpt update on "the Beast" - Alien 79 rework of the creatures head sculpt.
Working on some updates to the skull, the maxilla's depth, the teeth and a new lower jaw. The teeth are all being sculpted similar to the fashion of the larger egg layer xenomorph I've posted updates to recently. The size of this piece is considerably smaller than the egg layer so rather than the teeth being sculpted separately, the entire set is a single piece. I have more work to do with the lower jaw, it's teeth along with details to the "lips" if you can call them that . I'm making molds of each of these small pieces as I go along. Very fragile and I don't want to have to sculpt these pieces over again if I can help it. I'm using Aves FIXIT sculpt so it has strength but even at this scale, it can break easily.
More to come - gotta take one project at a time as I slowly get back into a routine that's been off course now for almost a year. It's not been easy to do. Just need to get along with it.
Thanks for looking!

This is why I like using the Lensbaby 2.0... it brings a bit more drama to an otherwise ordinary shot. Played with the multiple exposure function as well in my D7100.
Kept all the noise and rendered with a bit of tint to try to capture the cinematic mood of Ridley Scott's Alien.
Shooting Mcfarlane's Xenomorph with my Nikon D7100, Nikon 18-35 AF-D and a Aputure Halo ring flash.
A bit obvious that I was in need of a diffuser for my ring flash but I was happy that my setup was enough to set the dark mood.
Kept some noise and rendered with a bit of tint in hopes of capturing the cinematic mood of Ridley Scott's Alien. Tried to simulate the cool lighting in one of the headbite scenes.

Color laser printed backdrop with Samsung NX300 and Nik Analog Efex Film. Used a vintage Nikkor 50mm f1.4 AIS for this shot, lending it shallower depth of field and a more vintage film effect for bokeh.

But you'll have to take my word for it, with nothing else to judge the scale by you'll just have to believe me when I say Claire is a normal size for a Claire.

I have several parts primed and painted with a single black coat ready for detailing this week. Wanna get these two pieces complete, along with some variant head sculpts and get back to some sculpting...more updates to come this week! #alien #bigchap #alien1979 #miniature #painting #giger
