Lenten Roses aka Hellebores are a winter miracle; blooming in the coldest months of the year, they look delicate but are actually surprisingly sturdy.

The Abbey of Fulda (German Kloster Fulda, Latin Abbatia Fuldensis), from 1221 the Princely Abbey of Fulda (Fürstabtei Fulda) and from 1752 the Prince-Bishopric of Fulda (Fürstbistum Fulda), was a Benedictine abbey and ecclesiastical principality centered on Fulda, in the present-day German state of Hesse.

The monastery was founded in 744 by Saint Sturm, a disciple of Saint Boniface. After Boniface was buried at Fulda, it became a prominent center of learning and culture in Germany, and a site of religious significance and pilgrimage through the 8th and 9th centuries. The Annals of Fulda, one of the most important sources for the history of the Carolingian Empire in the 9th century, were written there. In 1221 the abbey was granted an imperial estate to rule and the abbots were thereafter princes of the Holy Roman Empire. In 1356, Emperor Charles IV bestowed the title "Archchancellor of the Empress" (Erzkanzler der Kaiserin) on the prince-abbot. The growth in population around Fulda would result in its elevation to a prince-bishopric in the second half of the 18th century.

Although the abbey was dissolved in 1802 and its principality was secularized in 1803, the diocese of Fulda continues to exist.

June is the lovely month of daisies, buttercups, and wild roses. A walk through the scented air is a simple summer pleasure.

I painted this daisy meadow based on a photo that I took while walking with my dog, Emmy, through the summer fields, using Deep Dream Generator and Topaz Studio.

"In the fields of summer, daisies bloom,

Their petals soft and white as snow,

A reminder of earth's sweet perfume,

And all the blessings it bestows."

The Birds begun at Four o'clock—

Their period for Dawn—

A Music numerous as space—

But neighboring as Noon—

I could not count their Force—

Their Voices did expend

As Brook by Brook bestows itself

To multiply the Pond.

Their Witnesses were not—

Except occasional man—

In homely industry arrayed—

To overtake the Morn—

Nor was it for applause—

That I could ascertain—

But independent Ecstasy

Of Deity and Men—

By Six, the Flood had done—

No Tumult there had been

Of Dressing, or Departure—

And yet the Band was gone—

The Sun engrossed the East—

The Day controlled the World—

The Miracle that introduced

Forgotten, as fulfilled.

I wanna tell you so many words.

I wanna sing to you many melodies.

I want you to see yourself in my heart and be satisfied.

I wanna confess to you and say how much I love you.

With you, I've lived, dreamed, wished, and achieved, and still...

I wanna travel and see the world, the oceans and mountains.

Today, I'm standing, opening my soul to you.

Today, everything within me, I bestow upon you.

Asking my Lord to give you whatever you wish.

I wish I could be near you, rather than wait for you.

With you, I've sung, danced, laughed, cried, and played and still...

I wanna feel, and taste, and revive my soul, and rest my mood.

I love the light that dwells within your eyes.

I opened my Book of Life, and wrote the letters of your name in it.

Due to my fascination with bokeh, I usually shoot wide open. The problem with that is that very little of the image is in focus and due to the quick moving nature of my subjects, most of the time the wrong part ends up being in focus. Sometimes, however, lady luck or whoever is in charge of these things bestows a smile on you. That was the case here, because beak, forehead and eye are exactly what I was aiming for. Would have been nice if the feet had been as sharp as well, but I suppose you could make the argument that they portray a bit of a sense of motion. (That’s an excuse, really). Oh, and what is my female sparrow buddy levitating over? That would be the metal flower, courtesy of my daughter.

Simple man – Lynyrd Skynyrd

THE Moon was but a chin of gold

A night or two ago,

And now she turns her perfect face

Upon the world below.

Her forehead is of amplest blond;

Her cheek like beryl stone;

Her eye unto the summer dew

The likest I have known.

Her lips of amber never part;

But what must be the smile

Upon her friend she could bestow

Were such her silver will!

And what a privilege to be

But the remotest star!

For certainly her way might pass

Beside your twinkling door.

Her bonnet is the firmament,

The universe her shoe,

The stars the trinkets at her belt,

Her dimities of blue.

Lovely winter bird

Perched so high

Sing a song

For you and I

Such breathtaking music

Filling the air

How could I ignore

This song you share

Each and everyday

I come to listen

Your voice to me

Has become my addiction

Even the cold wind

Could not make me go

I wouldn't want to miss

This gift you have bestowed

Again I will come

To see you tomorrow

To hear your joyous song

That melts away my sorrows

The last breath, the last plea made the black forests tremble.

"GokTengri Lord of the Skies, take this bleeding soul"

The sky split open, while my soul was trapped in the black hole hose of Purgatory; The earth cried with the voice of Tengri

"Open your eyes Atakurt, The Ancestor of the Wolves

The strength of the spirit we have bestowed upon you is in your noble blood."

"Knowledge"

by Jacob Lee

Sit close

Let me tell you every truth I know

I could read you poetry and prose

We could contemplate the syllables

If you so wish for it

If so

Let your consciousness dissolve like snow

Watch the branches replicate your bones

Place the precious palms among your own

Be the water and the boat, and so I stow

Every thought that lies inside of me

Atop the shelves, amidst my library

So when you're older you may visit me

When I'm at peace

Patiently, I reach up above

I can see the ocean as I stare at the stars

I will place my knowledge in your hands

It's okay if you don't understand just yet

Speak slow

Let me ask before I take a note

May I read a couple words you wrote?

Every page you touch, the letters glow

From the ashes do we grow

And I boast

I can comprehend the words you spoke

You're the writer and the quote, and so I hope

Every thought that lies inside of me

Someday finds its way from soul to speech

So I may bestow our legacy

Like you to me

Patiently, I reach up above

I can read the ocean as I write with the stars

I will place your knowledge in my hands

Flick a page until I understand, I do, oh

Like trying to speak while remaining in silence

Like facing your fears without feeling frightened

I'll never know if I'm yet to try it

I'll do my best to stay open-minded

Patiently, I reach up above

I can see the ocean as I stare at the stars

I will place my knowledge in your hands

Flick a page until I understand, I do, oh

Patiently, I reach up above

I can read the ocean as I write with the stars

I will place your knowledge in my hands

Flick a page until understand, I do, oh

A continuing return to the the "straight" Pano-Sabotage image. Adjustments were made for contrast, exposure and colour saturation and nothing else. This shot was done in one, quick, 3 second pass ... if that. This is the power and the magic of Panoramic Sabotage photography. Everything depends on the confident and experienced hand/eye coordination of the photographer. And even then, no matter how skilled one might be, it's still an improvisation. "You just never know what yer gonna get". Each image is therefore, unique and one of a kind.

I'm not crazy, your reality just isn't the same as mine.

Reading helped me escape and broaden my mind when I was young, and continues to this day. Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass were particularly noteworthy pieces when I was a child. Though full of metaphor, allegory and loopy conjecture, there were always a few quotes that stuck with me. I always enjoyed the tale of the Mock Turtle, myself. The melancholy little thing got on just fine, just as I often felt I was doing. Whenever things get complicated, I like to think of this small excerpt, reminding me that things aren't as complicated and vile as I often think they are, and time tends to bestow strength:

'That's the reason they're called lessons,' the Gryphon remarked: 'because they lessen from day to day.'

It's been a rough month. It's been in my mantra.

Go check out Enchantment, though, and write your own stories. <3

Glacial lake, Emmons Moraine trail, Mount Rainier National Park, Washington

I have always found it puzzling that a lake of such a beguiling hue has not been bestowed with a name. Yet there it sits, nameless, an empty space on the map when much smaller lake "dots" have their respective names noted beside them. And in hiking guides and trip reports it is typically referred to only as "the glacial lake on the Emmons Moraine trail".

The lake lies tucked away in a cirque at 5000 feet/1520 meters, fed by the White River flowing out of the Emmons Glacier on the northeast slopes of Tahoma/Mount Rainier. (And it is the glacial flour in the water that gives it the turquoise color.) After a steep, scrambling climb up and over a ridge from the river crossing below, a tantalizing glimpse of the water appears through the trees, and when the trail finally opens up to a view of the lake, the color is dazzling. Especially on a day like last weekend, with cloudless skies and strong mountain sunlight.

And perhaps remaining nameless gives this lovely lake some anonymity to hide behind, as I was able to enjoy the views of it for a good length of time in near-solitude on a warm and sunny day.

The Wall is a colossal fortification which stretches for 100 leagues (300 miles) along the northern border of the Seven Kingdoms, defending the realm from the wildlings who live beyond. The Wall is reported to be over 700 feet tall and is made of solid ice. It was supposedly constructed using both magic and mundane means some eight millennia ago, in the aftermath of the Long Night to defend the realm against the White Walkers who apparently dwell in the far north, though they are now considered myths by most.

Contents

The Wall is defended and held by the Sworn Brothers of the Night's Watch. Once an honorable institution, the Watch has fallen on hard times by the time of the War of the Five Kings. It has become grievously undermanned, numbering less than a thousand men, an all-time low. While once great glory and honor was to be had in the Watch, in the present day it is often seen as a glorified penal colony.

The current headquarters of the Watch is Castle Black, located in the shadow of the Wall at the northern end of the Kingsroad. Eastwatch-by-the-Sea, located at the eastern end of the Wall, serves as the main port and resupply post for the Night's Watch. The Shadow Tower at the western end of the Wall is the only other manned castle. Among the abandoned castles along the length of the Wall is the Nightfort, the first fortress built on the Wall and the original headquarters of the Night's Watch. The region south of the Wall is called the Gift, bestowed to the Night's Watch by House Stark thousands of years ago to supply the Night's Watch with food and provisions.

Early morning light on Mt. Hunter and King Denali under stormy skies. As a mountain hunter this was a life wish to see the highest mountain on the continent. After a week in the park with no luck I finally got lucky!

"The native name for Mount Hunter is Begguya, meaning "Denali's Child". In 1903, Robert Dunn, a reporter for the New York Commercial Advertiser, visited the area as part of Frederick Cook's attempt to climb Mount McKinley. He bestowed the name of his aunt Anna Falconnet Hunter, who financed his trip, on a high nearby mountain, prominent from the northwest. This was, in fact, a different peak, now known as Kahiltna Dome. Mt. Hunter is approximately eight miles (13 km) south of Denali. The name Hunter was mistakenly applied to the present-day Mount Hunter by a government surveyor in 1906.

Despite being much lower in elevation than Denali, Mount Hunter is a more difficult climb, due to its steep faces and corniced ridges; it also sees far less traffic than its larger neighbor." Wikipedia

Our boy Christmas having the patience to sit still at the moment for this picture.

In the hallowed grounds of Pashupatinath, Kathmandu, two Sadhus engage in a discerning exchange, their watchful eyes hinting at a subtle competition. As the auspicious union of Shiva and Parvati unfolds on this blessed day, their slight animosity finds its roots in their shared pursuit of bestowing blessings upon devotees and seeking alms in return. Amidst the divine ambiance, caution intertwines with the hope of acquiring favor and sustenance, adding an intriguing layer to their encounter.

Not in strength are we inferior to men;

the same our eyes, our limbs the same;

nor different is the food we eat.

The thistle has been an important symbol of Scottish heraldry for over 500 years.

It also represents one of the highest honours the country can give an individual.

Founded by James III in 1687, the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle is an order of chivalry which is bestowed to those who have made an outstanding contribution to the life of Scotland and the greater United Kingdom.

HM The Queen alone invests those in the Order of the Thistle …

The power of seeing this hydrangea blossom immediately has my mind filled with loving memories of our dear neighbor, Odea. It has been over six years since my sweet friend passed away, yet the blossoms on the small plant she bestowed upon me still make me smile with warm memories. Taking the "stellated extreme mirroring" technique further out by moving the image into asymmetry. The natural tendency when working with geometry is to go symmetrical. It seems like the right thing to do. Here I decided, as with Pano-Sabotage, to break the rules and give the form more life by making it's composition less regimented.

Every element is from a Pano-Sabotaged image. My goal with PS is to take it as far into Art as I can, even to the point of the medium almost losing it's identifying markers. One always has to see how far one can go.
