Mini cookie cutters of my grandma's. These little guys are an inch small. I am not sure what sort of cookies one would make with this? Bite sized? :)

One of my favorite parts of Christmas is finding and displaying new decorations. This Santa is one of my latest finds (his face is less than 2" across).

For the group, Macro Mondays, and December 23rd's theme: "Best with Holidays is..."

This small coin with an embossed angel is a reminder to me what this particular Holiday is about...and prompts me to celebrate the Sacred and not get lost in the secular.

Not a huge fan of Christmas as a whole, other than the Christmas lunch that is, but I do like having some decorations in the house. As long as the cat leaves them alone!

Putting up the Christmas decorations is my favourite part of the Christmas festivities. My partner and I have to find the Christmas tree. It’s a wooden handmade one and stored in three sections, all of which mysteriously migrate to different parts of the house loft / outdoor sheds over the year. We have to decide how best to assemble it, different every year. Then I decorate it with baubles amassed over several decades. Finally my family arrive and set to re-arranging and adding to the baubles. This is an angel catching the light.

And of course HMM & Merry Xmas Everyone visiting my stream and all my friends here!

An alternative to and more sensible shot than my Photo a Day - a bauble that I removed from our Christmas Tree and placed on white paper. I later realised that this would fit the Macro Mondays theme of ‘Holidays’ since it’s tiny - a mere 2cm in diameter. HMM!

Seasons Greetings and Happy Holidays, and one and all have good macro shooting!

“Macro Mondays” “Best with Holidays is…”.

I don't like using the same photo in more than one group for a theme but this is a busy time !

A tradition in our family is to buy a new bauble every year, this year it was these tiny golden baubles for decoration. They sit in a big beer glass :)

This is about 2,5 inch wide.

The scent of the Christmas candles! I just went shopping today and bought two, this one is Cranberry Chutney from Yankee Candle. I love wax melts, too but candles are so traditional, warm and love the flame!

For Macro Mondays theme 'Best With Holidays is...'

It's the most wonderful slime of the year! Brian carries the tree home to his family - his offspring really delight in decorating it!

No snails were harmed in the making of this photograph. At no time did any of the needles come into contact with the soft body of the snail. Needles were removed from the tiny branch so that it could balance on the shell (it was NOT stuck on!), so photographing it required a great deal of patience!

The Holidays aren't complete without putting up the Christmas Village! Happy Holidays, and HMM everyone!

Thema der Woche bei Macro Mondays ist: Best with Holidays is…

For the Macro Monday theme “Best with Holidays is…” (December 23rd 2019)

This is the only festive season we have! All our birthdays and anniversaries come within 5 days of Christmas, and are followed by Hogmanay! So it is the one time of the year when I can get out all the tinsel, sparkly decorations, light the festive lights - and turn on a bit of glamour. It's also the perfect time as the winter 'Festivals of Light' are all rolled up into this season of darkness, short days and long nights. So the glitter, colour and sparkle are perfect against the dark backdrop! It makes the month of December a real landmark for us both ;o)

These tiny glitter balls are just 2.5cm across, and shot here with two holly leaves from the garden. And there was bit of sunshine falling on the ceramis tiles to feel even more festive!

. . . "Communicating with friends and relatives" we might not have seen over the past year. It's so much fun to hear what everyone has been up to, from weddings to births, and all of the news in between. A card in the mailbox, always brings a smile. HMM!
