Begin deze maand is de 101 127 van DB Fernverkehr bestickerd in een nogal Retro outfitje. De loc heeft voor het 100 jarig jubileum van misschien wel een van de bekendste serie stoomlocs ooit: de Baureihe 01, een speciale kleurstelling gekregen, waar het draaistel van een 01 locomotief wordt afgebeeld, en rijdt dus sinds kort in het zwart haar IC-Diensten door heel Duitsland.
Op 22 Juli 2025 was ik weer een dagje op pad in Nordrhein-Westfalen. De week daarvoor wist ik de locomotief al vast te leggen op station Dusseldorf, maar aangezien dit in mijn mening wel de fraaiste 101 uitvoering is die nu rondrijdt, stond een zonplaat van deze loc hoog op mijn bucketlist. Dus besloot ik na een gefaalde poging om een 232, 218 en de 145 040 van TRI vast te leggen naar Angermund te gaan en mezelf op de 101 te focussen. Qua zon was het de hele dag enorm wisselvallig. De ene minuut was er volle zon, en de andere minuut een dikke fotowolk. Dus moest de wolkenloterij ook een keer worden gewonnen.
Deste dichterbijder de doorkomst van de 101 127 kwam, deste beter het qua bewolking werd, met achter mij volle zon en voor mij zwarte onweerswolken. Een paar minuten na 6 werd er in de verte een snelle, donkere neus waarnomen, dat kon maar een loc zijn, maar wat er ook vanachter werd waargenomen was een RRX treinstel, en nog meer wolken. Ik zag de poging al helemaal in het water vallen, maar toch besloot ik klaar te staan in het geval van een wonder…
Om 18:08, Precies tussenin de RRX en de wolk passeerde de 101 127 de twee fotografen met 200 Kilometer per uur. Nog geen minuut daarna schoof de wolk voor de zon, en kwam die ook niet meer terug. Na een dag van mislukkingen kon er dus toch nog een mooie zonplaat worden gemaakt. En kon er tevreden terug naar huis worden gereisd.

Op deze snikhete zomerdag werd er in de ochtend een uurtje in Elst langs t spoor besteed. De Nightjet uit Wenen was ongeveer 1,5 uur vertraagd en daarvan ontbrak nog een plaatje van.. Maar snel gebruik van gemaakt en rond de klok van half 11 kon de NS International 193 263 met Nightjet 420 van Wenen naar Amsterdam vastgelegd worden.. Begin van een productief ochtendje ;)

I went out for a walk early this morning, hoping that some fresh air would alleviate my migraine. Due to the headache I didn't take many photos but I couldn't resist to snap a shot of these already very autumnal looking maple leaves.

It was such a coincidence that I got front row seats. I was walking to a souvenir shop and the lady told me to stop right here because the parade was about to begin. Watching this parade made everyone so happy. There's just something about Disney that makes things so magical :)

Eastbound Santa Fe train 757 –– from Phoenix –– accelerates out of the yard at Ash Fork, Arizona, on July 19, 1988. It is quite obvious where the 1.8% compensated grade begins. After some serious climbing and curving, the 757 will soon reach the Transcon main line at Williams Junction.

riding in my car, armed with a new license and a powerful feeling of freedom. salty sea air and spring wisping through the open window, a humid haze down the road. kelly green oaks form a tunnel over me with little bits of sunflower sunlight peeking through and reflecting off my sunglasses. still sand between my toes and on my knees, my feet hurting in a good way. my pants a bit damp from walking in too deep, but i don't really mind. beautiful inspiration fills my head like the waves fill my soul with calm. that feeling that nothing is wrong and everything is right. this is a new beginning.
