My brother is coming to visit next week, He lives near Yosemite and this is one of many photos from a trip to visit him in 2014 and our little day trip to Yosemite National Park. I sure wish it was not on the opposite side of the continent!

With a dusky look.
'The Beckoning Lady' was the title of a novel by Margery Allingham featuring fictional detective Albert Campion.
The worst time for a landscape, noon is when the water's colors are most prominent. Sometimes rules need to be broken. In the distance, the line of clouds near the horizon hover above the Gulf Stream as it heads north and east.

The Bodhisattva Kannon surrounded by manekineko (the Japanese beckoning cat - a lucky charm to invite good luck, most common to either your home or your business).
At the Buddhist temple Gōtokuji.
For most tourists this temple is quite a bit off compared to other famous sites in Tokyo - but it is still quite popular. After all they maintain the story of being the place that invented the beckoning cat - said to be inspired by a story of a monk's cat which saved the daimyo Ii Naotaka from being hit by lightning by beckoning him into the temple. And now you can find tons upon tons of them by a little side-temple on the grounds.
But this temple is worth a visit for more than that (and I am saying this as a great cat lover). It is the largest historical site in Tokyo (according to the sign at the entrance - and I have no reason to doubt it). A temple has stood here since 1480, and Gōtokuji dates to 1655, with many of its existing buildings actually dating from the 17th century. The grounds are extensive and includes a cemetery for the Ii-family with traditional tombs.
Beyond the darkened corridor
of winter’s chill and gloom,
Beckons spring with light and life
And wisps of hope
carried like a song
Despite the sub-freezing temperatures we experienced a couple of nights this week, the first daffodils in my garden are blooming, and insisting that Spring is on its way. This morning they were graced with the brightness of some unexpected sunshine and as they nodded in the breeze and their soft fragrance gently scented the air, it felt as if all the hope and promise of Spring to come was captured in those lovely blooms.
Note: After tomorrow I will be traveling for much of the next two weeks, so I apologize in advance that I may not be able to reply to comments in a timely fashion, and I will catch up on everyone's beautiful images as I can.
Deepdale Beck with the skies clearing over Greenhow End, Fairfield and High Street at the head of this delightful valley.
This is one of many small waterfalls on the beck. This was taken as I made my way back down the valley after spending a morning wandering around its expanse. The first couple of hours were moody with clouds covering the mountains. As I made my way back down the clouds lifted and the skies cleared nicely, as can be seen in this shot.
This meant revisiting some of the compositions I had stopped to take on the way up. Just to get that lovely light on the bulk of the formidable crags of Greenhow End.
This unusual and atmospheric 14th-century yeoman's farmhouse is an amazing building. With a famously wavy slate roof and over 600 years of history it beckons the curious to explore.
Having been built C: 1350 the building has stood the test of time.
Summer in the hills
Those hazy days I do remember
We were running still
Had the whole world at our feet
Watching seasons change
Our roads were lined with adventure
Mountains in the way
Couldn't keep us from the sea
I still hear you in the breeze
See your shadows in the trees
Holding on, memories never change

Wandering the two lane blacktop along the Point Reyes Peninsula, the patchwork of colors as vivid as an artist's palette, white cliffs beckoning in the distance. If man could choose his moment to fly--this would be mine.

For within me
is a song
of irresistible beauty
that softly sings
Beckoning me forwards
always to experience Love.

Daybreak beckons at Phanom Rung Historical Park in Buriram Province, home of the most extensive and best kept Khmer temple ruins in Thailand. The Khmer Empire was the predecessor state to modern Cambodia which borders this area of Thailand. Based atop an ancient inactive volcano, Phanom Rung was built in a classic Angkor style between the 10th and 13th centuries and was dedicated to the Hindu god, Shiva.

The MetOffice have released their three month advance forecast for the UK and it is expected that, in the midst of the cost of living crisis, we are likely to face a colder than average winter. These advance forecasts are getting harder to predict with rapid arctic warming destabilising the high altitude jet streams. People in the UK are already having to choose between heating and eating as they struggle with obscene energy prices while the energy companies rake in excessive profits. It will be a tough winter ahead.
Stay safe my Flickr friends.

“The devil tempts us not; 'tis we who tempt him, beckoning his skill with opportunity.” - George Elliot
There was a lot of fighting through ferns and brambles to get to where I could see the light pouring through the trees. The whole light show only lasted about 15 minutes before the sun was hidden behind the clouds once again. Still, I like the natural framing in this shot, especially the pointed branch spearing up at the bottom of the image.
The more civilized man becomes, the more he needs and craves a great background of forest wildness, to which he may return like a contrite prodigal from the husks of an artificial life.

TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Ashland, Oregon has a woodland-rich, steep-walled valley that contains Lithia Park. In the autumn, many of the trees display brilliantly colored leaves. The Japanese Garden is especially rich in color in the fall. This photo is one example. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lithia_Park
Photo taken from the Six Heart Ranch just outside of Grand Teton NP. Notice the reddish orange sky due to particulates from the wild fires from Washington State and Oregon blowing into Wyoming at the time.
