The title is inspired by the poem Chitto jetha bhoyshunyo (Where the mind is without fear) composed by Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore in 1900. Such hope is possibly even more relevant today across the globe.
Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high;
Where knowledge is free
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments
By narrow domestic walls
Where words come out from the depth of truth;
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection;
Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way
Into the dreary desert sand of dead habit;
Where the mind is led forward by thee
Into ever-widening thought and action;
Into that heaven of freedom, My Father, let my country awake.
This is a macro photo of a beautiful, fragrant white jasmine flower.

Where is the Sun series, Frame # 40004
... Story continued from the previous post.
"Kids!" a voice echoed,
"Papa!" the siblings chorused.
"What are you doing outside?" the father asked,
"The fog has kidnapped the sun!" the big sister explained.
"Oh dear," reacted the father,
"And we want to play!" the little brother whined.
"So we need the sun!" added the big sister,
"We have to rescue him!" the siblings chimed.
"May be, I can help," said the father,
"When I was a child, my papa had shown me the sun's lair.
May be, he is still in the forest here."
"Then let's find him!" urged the big sister.

As they climbed further up the hill,
they could see the beautiful valley.
The little brother shivered, "I don't want to fall :-S",
and the big sister ruffled his head, "Don't be silly :-)"
The fog was covering the sky,
and all color was fading,
for the trees were turning gray,
and the sand's brown was waning :-(

... Story continued from the previous post.
The trail suddenly sloped downwards
and the pull of gravity was much stronger.
The kids leaped and raced all the way down
while it took their papa much longer :-)
But the sun was nowhere to be seen
though its pillow and blanket were messy.
And the steps leading up to the sky
looked very much muddy and dirty :-/
"This means the sun did in fact wake up,"
the father stated.
"So the fog did capture him and we have to free him!"
the siblings repeated.

to escape any ills from the sun's rage :-S
Reaching the top breathless, they plonked down on the grass,
wondering if the sun got out of the creepy cottage :-/
But soon warm sparkling sunlight burst through the foggy sky,
to their utter delight :-D

Bright and early they were up,
the day next.
And out they ran,
in their adventure gear best :-)
"Where is the sun?" asked the little brother,
"I don't know. It's not like him to be late," replied the big sister.
"It's so foggy," whined the brother,
"Oh dear! The sinister fog might have..." cried the sister :-(
"Kidnapped the sun!" finished the brother,
"We have to rescue him!" declared the sister.
"But where would he be?" questioned the brother,
"Let's search. We can find him," reassured the sister.

They climbed up the hill
farther away from their house,
scurrying up the jungle path
like a small mouse :-)
"I'm tired," panted the little brother
and plonked himself on a rock.
Patting his head said the big sister,
"Even big ships need to dock!"
Suddenly the fog thickened
driving out all light.
And the duo ran further uphill
in intense fright :-(

A small family,
sitting by a beautiful bonfire.
The children dreaming,
and the mother saying her daily prayer :-)
"Mama," the little boy pleaded,
"I want to play!"
The mother smiled and replied,
"It's too dark now, do it during the day."
"Come on kids, it's time to sleep!"
said the father firmly.
And into the house marched the duo,
to lie in their beds unwillingly :-(

Sundarbans, The largest single block of tidal halophytic mangrove forest in the world, located in the southwestern part of Bangladesh. It lies on the Ganges-Brahmaputra Delta at the point where it merges with the Bay of Bengal. It is also a center of economic activities, such as extraction of timber, fishing and collection of honey. The forest consists of about 200 islands, separated by about 400 interconnected tidal rivers, creeks and canals.
The nature of Sundarbans is really so different and so so amazing to enjoy. I think it is really unmatched by its God gifted incredible features. Every traveler in the world should make a visit to our Sundarbans for once minimum in their lifetime, not but it will be a subject of great affliction to life.

It was around mid-night. I was sitting on the front terrace with the moonlit sky above, savoring the cool night breeze blowing towards the sea, with my eyes closed. A soft melodious crooning sound wafted through the air into my ears...
"How did it get so late so soon?
It's night before it's afternoon.
December is here before it's June.
My goodness how the time has flewn.
How did it get so late so soon?"
I started and glanced around, but found no one. To ascertain that I was really awake and in my senses, I pinched myself... rather hard. Ouch... that really hurt! The crooning sound faded away, but I decided to switch on my cellphone torch and walk around a bit in the terrace garden. And then I noticed the lone dragonfly hanging from a bamboo plant branch, resting for the night. A beautiful dragonfly on a winter moonlit night crooning a Dr. Seuss poem in my garden? :-O I clicked a photo quickly, but knew that I was better off hitting the bed than pinching myself again. The morning next when I awoke the photo was still there, but the dragonfly was nowhere to be seen in the garden...
Wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year :-)

Towards the end of December I decided to drive down to the Mahabalipuram Beach on the outskirts of Chennai (India) hoping to catch some interesting action. But little did I anticipate that I would be entering a sea of red & yellow that morning :-O The whole beach was packed with the followers of Angalaamman, all attired in bright red & yellow garments, ready to take a dip in the sea water during sunrise as a part of their religious rituals. And as I waded through the red & yellow mass surrounding me, I came across this delightful monkey, also dressed in striking red & yellow, doing some brisk busking under the expert direction of its master :-D

Note: This is a deliberate out-of-focus street shot for the story below.
... As I wipe my eyeglasses clean, I glance towards the front street for possible ride options.
"So, what will it be today - the good old, rickety, airy, yellow-and-black auto-rickshaw or the swanky, air-conditioned, spotless-white Uber taxi?"
"I just need a quick and cheap two-mile ride to the coffee shop for my next meeting... :-/ "
"Ain't both quick and cheap at this time of the day?"
"Then the Uber taxi it is..."
"But, don't you care about the livelihood of the old, long-serving, self-employed auto-rickshaw driver?"
"Don't you ever talk without asking questions?" I chide my bespoke virtual assistant loudly >:-{ baffling the people on the street :-O
"Well, ain't you the one who programs me to be smarter than being just an intelligent order taker?"
"I'll walk it!" I mumble after a long pause, knowing fully well that the smart-ass is now going to be insanely muddled up for a while trying to figure out whether 'walking' is a general option, or a specific one in response to a vexed question ;-) ...

The Common Gull, Mew Gull or Sea Mew[(Larus canus) is a medium-sized gull which breeds in northern Asia, northern Europe and northwestern North America. It migrates further south in winter. Its name does not indicate that it is an abundant species, but that during the winter it feeds on common land, short pasture used for grazing.
Adults are 40-46 cm long, obviously smaller than the Herring Gull, and slightly smaller than the Ring-billed Gull, also differing from this in its shorter, more tapered bill with a more greenish shade of yellow, as well as being unmarked during the breeding season. The body is grey above and white below. The legs are greenish-yellow. In winter, the head is streaked grey, and the bill often has a poorly-defined blackish band near the tip (sometimes sufficiently obvious to cause confusion with Ring-billed Gull). They have black wingtips with large white "mirrors". Young birds have scaly black-brown upperparts and a neat wing pattern, and grey legs. They take two to three years to reach maturity. The call is a high-pitched "laughing" cry.

I got tagged by HeliTwo: www.flickr.com/photos/23143555@N03/
The point of the game is to tag fellow photographers, who then have to upload a photo of themself, along with 10 random facts about his/her life.
The above shot was taken by my sister (using my camera set-up) on day three of my new life in Grand Cayman. This is my dad's favorite spot to snorkel at, because the fish are used to people and don't shy away. uite on the contrary, they'll swim right toward you!
Random Facts:
1) I'm adopted.
2) I have a neurological condition called synesthesia which makes me see colors when I see numbers, letters, or listen to music.
3) I first swam with black-tip reef sharks when I was ten.
4) I used to live in Jakarta, Indonesia
5) I also used to live in Windsor, England
6) I was once stuck on an elevator with the lead singer of Creed.
7) I can control (to a certain extent) what happens in my dreams. I also dream in color.
8) I designed the CD cover for the Putrid Flowers' 'Dancing with a Stranger' album.
9) While living in England, I was bitten by a polecat--a type of wild ferret.
10) I was once apprehended by airport security in Ontario because I had a set of deer antlers in my carry-on backpack which apparently looked like 'dangerous weapons' on the X-ray.
