“And the Spring arose on the garden fair, Like the Spirit of Love felt everywhere. And each flower and herb on Earth's dark breast, Rose from the dreams of its wintry rest.”

The International Day of Non-Violence is observed on October 2, the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, by all member states of the United Nations (UN web-pages on Non-Violence Day).
This is a photo of an exhibit (statues), in the Sabarmati Ashram museum, that recreates the famous Salt March, an overwhelmingly popular act of non-violent civil disobedience in colonial India initiated by Mahatma Gandhi.

Gumai Beel is one of the largest paddy fields in Bangladesh which is located at Rangunia upazila in Chittagong. The area of this beel starts from Mariam Nagar of Rangunia upazila and lasts up to Nishchintopur of Rangamati. Another area of the beel is situated in Kaptai of Rangamati. The amount of rice that can be produced from this vast region, it can provide two-and-a-half-day rice for all the people of the country. When it’s autumn, the fields look golden. This beel produces Amon and Boro mainly. But recently, the adjacent land to the main road of this beel has been filling up with various types of constructions.

Once upon a time there lived a two-year old pure-bred dachshund, named Maggie, in a dog shelter home. One day a nine-year old girl (let’s call her A1) visited the shelter home, and Maggie jumped onto her lap. A1 fell in love with the dog instantly, adopted her and brought her home. Maggie soon started ruling over her new family like a queen :-) Initially A1’s three-year old cousin (let’s call her A2) was a bit scared of Maggie, but over a period of time she too grew very fond of Maggie. After four years when A1 moved to another city, she left Maggie behind with A2. Thanks to her growing bond with Maggie, A2 became obsessed with pets of all kinds, and befriended all the pets in the neighborhood. She and her friends started dreaming of building a chain of pet-care centers, when they grew up. Four more happy years passed by in a blink. Maggie grew old and less active, but remained as loyal and loving as ever. And then in the wee hours of an autumn morning she passed away leaving her family, especially A1 and A2, totally heartbroken :’-(
RIP Maggie. 2006.03.14 - 2016.10.10
The image above shows Maggie sunbathing in the front-yard not so long ago and a flower from the jasmine tree that stands next to the front-yard.
A poem on Maggie, by A2 –
You gave us a lot of joy,
and made us smile,
but now you are gone,
unfortunately it was your time.
How we wish you would wake up,
but we have still got memories,
you were the sweetest dog ever,
your grave is now our treasury.

The Central Railway Building is one of the few remaining buildings that tell the history of two hundred years of British colonial rule in Chittagong. In 1760, the British rulers took over the control of Chittagong from Nawab Mir Qasim and ruled it until 1947 before the Partition of India. During their reign the British built several buildings to facilitate their administrative works and one of those buildings is CRB.Central Railway Building (CRB) is situated in the scenic hilly area of Chittagong, Bangladesh. It is the governing office for the general manager of Bangladesh Railway. The building was completed in 1872,it is one of the oldest buildings of the port city. To the east, across CRB Road, is Railway Hospital at CRB, built in 1994.There is a proposal to establish a 50-bed medical college at CRB and up-grade the existing Railway Hospital to 250 beds. There is a residential area for the railway officers surrounding it.

This is just a little piece of the sundown I captured Friday evening. The spectrums and textures were out of this world!

Zinias I'd say need no commentary. I'll just say two things:
1) They are my most beloved flowers of them all!
2) Whenever I see them somewhere blossoming I start frolicking around 😄
I hope they'll make you happy too 💐

CONSTANCE!
La mer sera sans poissons ,
Le rossignol sans chanson,
Et les lauriers sans verdure ,
l'été n'aura point de grains ,
L'hiver sans froidure ,
Et l'automne sans raisins,
Le printemps sera sans fleurs ,
Les tulipes sans couleurs,,
Et les roses sans épines ,
les sphères sans mouvement
Quand, pour vos beautés divines ,
Je serai sans sentiment .
Assurance D'Amour.( Pierre BERTHELOT - 1615 )
This was taken 7 days ago and it will be interesting to see how much she's grown when I take some pics later today..have a happy Sunday! ;D
Archiving and I'm running low! This was one of my luckiest sky days ever to me. Just one right after the other. This day I took over 60 shots in 30 minutes. God was puttin' on the prettiest show up there I'd ever seen. Here's another shot the same day.

Dried Fish edible fishes preserved through removal of moisture. Fish drying as a means of preservation has been practiced since time immemorial in this region, and dry fish is considered as a delicacy in the menu of many people of Bangladesh. The basic principle of fish drying is that the activity of the muscle enzyme and microorganism is reduced to a minimum through drawing out the water content of the fish by sun drying in a traditional way. Fish drying is carried out in some selected coastal areas and inland depressions of Bangladesh where modern preservation facilities and good infrastructure for transportation are absent. Some important spots are: Dublar Char of sundarbans, st martin's island, Rangabali, Sonadia Island, Moheshkhali, Cox's Bazar, Chittagong, lbrahimpur of Sunamganj, and Joshomantapur of Jamalganj. Estuarine and marine set bag nets (Behundi) are the main gears for supplying fishes for drying; harvested fishes are carried to the drying yards and then segregated species-wise by hired labourer.
The important marine and freshwater species that are dried are Loitya (Harpodon neherius), Chhuri (Lepturacanthus savala), Punti (Puntius sarana, P. stigma), chapila (Gadusia chapra), Lakhua (Polynemus indicus), Rupchanda (Pampus chinensis), and shrimps (Metapenaeus species and Penaeus species).
Two to eight days are required for drying depending on the size and species of the fishes. The segregated fishes are placed on mats, or hung from raised racks/poles. The dry fishes are often infested by blow fly (Chrysomya species) and their larvae (maggot) during the drying phase, especially in the cloudy and rainy days; and by beetle (Necrobia species) and mites in the store causing considerable amount of weight loss of the finished product every year. To protect the products from the infestation of insects, the merchants often use various harmful insecticides and fungicides. But the availability of sterilization of dried fishes by radiation can ensure pollution-free environment. Institute of Food and Radiation Biology of Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission is currently engaged in research on storage technology of dried fishes using nuclear radiation.
Luce, Pace, Amore.
La pace guardò in basso, vide la guerra e disse:
“Là voglio andare”.
L’amore guardò in basso, vide odio e disse:
“Là voglio andare”.
La luce guardò in basso, vide il buio e disse:
“Là voglio andare”.
Così apparve la luce e risplendette.
Così apparve la pace e offrì riposo.
Così apparve l’amore e portò vita.

The title is inspired by the poem Chitto jetha bhoyshunyo (Where the mind is without fear) composed by Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore in 1900. Such hope is possibly even more relevant today across the globe.
Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high;
Where knowledge is free
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments
By narrow domestic walls
Where words come out from the depth of truth;
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection;
Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way
Into the dreary desert sand of dead habit;
Where the mind is led forward by thee
Into ever-widening thought and action;
Into that heaven of freedom, My Father, let my country awake.
This is a macro photo of a beautiful, fragrant white jasmine flower.

"Sure thing, big sis! But you do realize that Karate and Transformers are more in line with my way of solving such problems ;-) Don't you?" The End.
