In ancient times, Priene was still a coastal town - there was still the sea (Gulf of Latmos) where there are now cotton fields in the plain.

Would you like to drive a rare vintage car? With three headlights? Then you would love a 1948 Tucker. If you can find one. I had never seen one before. And little wonder since only 51, including the prototype, were ever made, according to Road & Track Magazine! The third “Cyclops” headlight really made it for me. This was designed by Preston Tucker to swivel to light the way around corners. I used a handheld ProtoMachines LED2 light painting device to illuminate the car while the tripod-mounted camera shutter was open for this long exposure photo. This photo appeared in my second book, "Abandoned Planes Trains and Automobiles".

I was lucky to see the Muddusfallet waterfall in its full power after 6 days of continuous rain.

A bunker overcome by sand dunes at an abandoned naval base near the Salton Sea once used for seaplane and bombing range operations. I illuminated the scene with a handheld flashlight while the camera's shutter was open during this long exposure night photo. This was part of a Notorious RGB 1165-mile photography safari with Mike Cooper, George Loo, and George the monkey.

Not much posting lately. I have spent the last four months doing some heavy video editing at work, so that has had some admittedly somewhat negative impact on me posting images here. However, now that that the spring is fully under way and the summer is just around the corner, I will aim to find my groove again.

I illuminated this moss-covered fog-enshrouded vintage automobile with warm white light from a handheld ProtoMachines LED2 light while the camera's shutter was open during this long exposure night photo. This was photographed while on a trip visiting my friend Lee in Atlanta and doing night photography with Tim while checking out locations for future night photography workshops. We photographed on a damp foggy December evening in Old Car City, filled with 4000 abandoned vintage vehicles in a forest dripping from rain earlier that evening.

The Red Line

There's something special about this long red bus that I really like. The curves and lines are beautiful. I illuminated the vintage bus with warm white light from a handheld ProtoMachines LED2 light during the long exposure. Light painting to illuminate subjects is a beautiful, addictive art, as you can walk around the scene, deciding what to bring to light and what to keep in shadow. Photographed during a night photography workshop that we taught in the Nevada desert.

The Church of the Blue Sky

Behold this breathtaking wooden church at twilight, perched atop a hill overlooking a valley that's nestled in the mountains at about 7400 feet in elevation in Nye County, Nevada. This 4/5 replica of a historic Catholic church, crafted with meticulous attention to detail, takes you back to the charm of the 19th century. But what truly brings the magic to life is the power of light painting! Armed with my trusty handheld ProtoMachines LED2 light, I illuminated the church's exterior with a warm white glow. Inside, I summoned hues of yellow to illuminate the sacred space, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. And that's a beautiful thing since it was just a few degrees above freezing on this gorgeous May evening.
