“Problem Bear“.
Public film for the release of bears back into the woods in Bavaria (Southern Germany). This film won the well-known „Young Directors Project“ Award 2007 in Munich.
The background: When „Bruno“ the bear got lost on his way from Italy to Germany, he became a „problem bear“ for the government, for the public he became a „cult bear“. Unfortunately the government had the bear killed. This film calls for the release of bears back into the wild in Germany.
Same bear family that I posted a few days ago. This time they were successful in their hunt. The sow and one of her cubs is looking and scenting us up on the hill where we were watching Even though we were quite a way away it is always a bit of an eye opener that they know exactly where you are.
Some really tough light conditions but fascinating to witness.
After our last year's wonderful visit to the "polar bear capital of the world" Churchill in Manitoba/Canada we returned there this year for another one week stay. While last year's weather conditions were rather mild this year was really cold (down to -31° C including wind chill factor).
We saw lots of bears including cubs (that we did not see last year).
Used a 30 mm lense that I took off the camera and reversed to zoom on a teddy bear's head that my friend drew.
