From writer Jeph Loeb's and artist Tim Sale's vivid re-telling of the birth of one of Batman's greatest foes in The Long Halloween. To be fair Sale's art is fairly polarizing. People either seem to love it or hate it. Personally I like the noir-esque look, and it defnitely adds to the pulp vibe of Loeb's writing style particularly in The Long Halloween
If there was one character from all of literature that I always loved, and to an extent identified with, it would have be the Batman. Its a curious affinity that I can't quite put my finger on. I love the darkness of the character. The regret. The pain. The drive. The obsession. The looming shadow of his past, and how he dons the guise of a demon to fight a bevy of horrendous foes in order to to atone for the murder of his parents.
While my anticipation for The Dark Knight Rises isn't as great as some I did happen to dig all (or most) of my Batman figures out of storage a couple weekends ago. Consider this the first in an artist specific series of shots featuring the World's Greatest Detective not soley as an homage to one story teller, but rather a tribute to the character himself created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger nearly 75 years ago.

Vibrant, lurid, sprawling São Paulo may bear more than a passing resemblance to DC Comics’ Gotham City—but Beco do Batman’s (“Batman Alley”) brash colors and stark angles beat those of any graphic novel.
Every inch of this street art landmark is covered with graffiti of the finest order. Much of it is produced by artists associated with São Paulo’s urban intervention schemes, but the Beco do Batman also attracts sprayers and stencilers from all over the world.
With its layers upon layers of paint, Beco do Batman is a constantly changing wonder: there’s a new surprise every day, so it’ll draw you back again and again.

To commemorate the First Appearance of the one and only Dark Knight I decided to post my own Batman Pic. Some would digress that the true Batman Day is June 27th when Bruce's parents were murdered hence the beginning of the evolution of Batman, regardless I think there could never be too many days honoring the iconic Batman for without him, there wouldn't be any of our favorite characters such as the Bat-Family staples Robin, Batgirl, Catwoman and Nightwing as well as the original Rogues' Roster Joker, Penguin, Mr Freeze, Bane and Two Face
Not to Mention one of my favorite comic series: Trinity
The classic Batman costume. Nothing has quite come close to it since. Neil Adams and Jim Aparro and Dennis O'neil what I think when I think of when I think classic Bats. Good times, the best if you ask me.
Kenner's Super Powers line was really what got me hooked on DC Comics. When I was a kid this was one of my most covetted figures! Just couldn't seem to find him anywhere. Now he stands proud alongside his killer ride and trusty sidekick.
Just looking through my photos and saw this. Seeing how my collection of batman figs has grown I'm not sure if I'd be able to get them all into one pic like this. But here you can also see all my old villains and heroes. :)
