With the 2nd Quarter Designer chat that happened yesterday, Bill G. announced the name of new line that will replace the Basics. It's called "The Barbie Look". As promised, it's more fashion focused than doll focused...which is really super good news since we do need more fashions. Two things have been confirmed... A Steffie sculpt will make an appearance and the dolls will be in Model Muse bodies. With the Barbie Convention next week, I just wish they sneak this line. I cannot wait!

I'm speculating 4-6 dolls and 4 fashion packs. I want more on Louboutin, Lara, Mbili, Lea, Teresa and Tango. I really want Tori sculpt! Seriously! Less on Goddess, Aphrodite, Carnival and Mackie.

"The Barbie Look" will be released for the spring line which is late Dec 2012/ early Jan 2013. I'm begging for some sneak peeks right now!

A couple of these gals are not Basics but I wanted to incorporate them anyhow.

Here’s my Barbie Basics Collection. At the time when it was brand new I knew I had to limit myself to dolls I could easily rebody so I mostly avoided the harder to rebody skin tones.

Of course now that I gotten better at body matching and more articulated bodies exist I have a few Barbie Basics regrets….

Eccola qui, finalmente le ho viste dal vivo: purtroppo c'erano solo due modelli di Teresa e una sola Barbie bionda con abito bicolore rosa e nero. Io ho deciso di prendere la Teresina, ma non questa in foto, l'altra. Infatti questa ha un occhietto leggermente più largo, quello a sinistra, mentre la mia ha uno sguardo perfetto!

Le stoffe sono come le DreamHouse, quindi si parla di cotone; la posa ricorda molto le basics e mi ha resa felicissima, infatti prenderò solo quelle con la posa particolare se mi convinceranno dal vivo; i capelli sono buoni e molto folti; il nuovo viso è dolcissimo. Consigliata! ;)

First time to ever see the Barbie Basics 1.5 in-person!! Except, of course, for the one I ordered off Amazon: I see her in-person every day. ;)

In this photo, my two favorites out of the 1.0 collection are right next to each other: Teresa and Carnival face. Out of the 1.5 collection, my favorites are Carnival face and red-haired Steffie.

Also: Check out that new Barbie Jewelry! There are bracelets -- one says "I'm a Doll!" -- and earrings. Cute stuff!

I took this series of pics of Inez late last year in 2011. I love this girl and I really wish that Mattel had made other Barbie Basics in the line with the articulated body. This body is taller than the fashionista body. Now that is have a Pro account on here I will be posting many more pics of Barbie Basics and my other dolls that I collect...

Bella and I headed down to the beach (uShaka) this morning with my "back to basics" kit - Canon South Africa 550D loaded with a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Lens from Orms. It was quite difficult shooting one-handed (right hand) as Bella was yanking her chain (my left hand) although she did lie still every so often. Prakash, always taunting me about my "orange" photos, remarked over a post photo shoot chat "no orange this morning hey!" Well I tried my level best when I got home to find a photo from this morning that would satisfy Prakash. I hope the inserted photo does the trick.

Canon 550D: F7.1, ISO 400, 1/1000 sec, -0.7 exp

PS - I managed some landscape shots with the 50mm on my 6D but on the 550D I found I had to stand a mile away (effectively 80mm)

I named my Barbie Basics #005, "Chun"! I also drew a fashion sketch of her tonight! I love to draw the Barbie Basics! Chun has the most wonderful hair. I really am loving the Barbie Basics! They are so beautiful! : )
