On 7 August 2021 the first-place Chicago White Sox defeated the reeling Cubs 4-0.
Leaving Wrigley on a Red Line train, I saw many White Sox fans amongst the usual red and blue worn by Cubs fans, including this man, whose black Sox hat stood out. I found it interesting and snapped photo.
He then exited the train, shouting “what’s your problem, what’s your f*cking problem?!.” I told him I though his Sox hat was cool in a sea of Cubs fans, and told him I would be happy to delete the image if he liked.
Instead, he took out his phone and snapped 10 or so quick photos of me and showered a few expletives.
Maybe a bad day? And, his team had won!
I enjoy getting the major league baseball games early (especially in towns other than St. Louis) to see the Cardinals going through their warm-up routines, batting practice, and pitchers getting their work in for that day if it's not their scheduled start day. However, the best sight that I always see when I'm there early is an athlete taking time to come over and sign an autograph for a young fan that admires them like no adult can. On this date in Pittsburgh, Michael Wacha came over to the stands, had multiple conversations with young baseball fans, and signed multiple items for these little guys. There were several baseballs, a shirt or two, but my favorite is the Cardinals hat that then goes right back on the kids head for the rest of the day (and usually many, many days afterward). Great job Mr. Wacha...

My pawents and I watched the Giants win last night. We kids had great fun watching the game at Romeo's house. That 8th inning was so exciting. My pawents, my friends, and all the kids in my neighborhood are routing for the SF Giants in the World Series! I've only been introduced to the game of baseball this past September when I found my first baseball. Now my mom and I have become "Kung Fu Panda!" fans!

My first love of any sport was baseball. As a kid I played on a team, although I wasn't the best I loved playing. I was big on collecting baseball cards so those were the first things I started collecting. My first team I followed was the Mets in 86. As a kid I began with the most notable names at the time, Daryl Strawberry being my first favorite player. Almost the entire roster of the 86 team were household names, so of course as a kid they were my favorite. They won the World Series that year. My very first sporting event I attended was a Mets game in 89-90 at Shea Stadium in Queens, NY. 1990 is when I switched over to become a Yankees fan and have been a fan ever since. My grandparents were the ones who got me into the Yankees. My grandmother defended her beloved Yankees no matter how bad or good they were doing, she didn't allow anyone to talk bad about the team. That taught me how to be a loyal all weather fan. My grandfather would sit in the kitchen on summer nights with only the night light on listening to Yankee games on the radio station. This was the days before cable or the YES network. Listening to the play by play without seeing it on TV made me understand baseball, I had to envision everything that was being announced. It was like reading a book and seeing it play out in your mind. Eventually baseball was on TV and I was attending games at the old Yankee stadium and then the new one which opened in 2009. I also attended a Marlin's/Yanks game in the old Landshark Stadium in Miami. In 2021 I attended my very first Dodgers game at Dodgers Stadium in LA. The stadium is a classic, it opened in 1962 and still has the classic 1960's architecture. It was on my bucket list of stadiums to visit.
On the first night of my trip to LA I attended my first Dodger's game. I hoped off the plane, checked into my hotel and drove in LA traffic to the game. I barely ate the entire day so I bought the famous Dodger dog(beef) some nachos and of course a nice cold Modelo. Although I was very tired from travelling I enjoyed every moment of the game. The Dodgers were playing the Arizona Diamond Backs that night. I saw a few great plays and a couple of homeruns. The Dodgers ended up winning the game. I did feel at home while at the game. The energy of the passionate fans reminded me of being with Yankee fans in the Bronx. I decided to take my tired self back to the hotel in the bottom of the 7th inning. It was about 10pm west coast time but I was still on that 3 hour east coast time difference. I was lucky to leave a bit early because from what I've been told, it can take almost 3 hours to leave the stadium lot!
I took this shot from my seat on the right infield side of the stadium. The views were awesome and the ballpark was packed with fans.
