The Chapel of the Presentation of the Virgin is located in the south aisle of St Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City. The original basilica was built by the Emperor Constantine in the fourth century. In 1506 pope Julius II began construction of a new Baroque structure to replace the existing one. When it was completed 120 years later it was, and still is, the largest Christian church in the world with enough interior space to accommodate 60,000 people standing or 20,000 seated.

Lisbon Cathedral, also known as the Basilica of Santa Maria Maior or simply Lisbon Cathedral, is the oldest Christian temple in the Portuguese capital and one of its most emblematic monuments. Built in 1147, after the reconquest of Lisbon by King Afonso Henriques, over an old mosque and an earlier Visigothic temple, its Romanesque façade, with two sturdy bell towers and a characteristic central rose window, bears witness to its history. Over the centuries, and particularly after the 1755 earthquake, it underwent several reconstructions that gave it Gothic and Baroque elements, resulting in a harmonious combination of styles. In addition to its religious significance, where the relics of São Vicente, Lisbon's patron saint, are kept, the Cathedral is an important tourist attraction in the Alfama district, often photographed with the tracks of streetcar 28 in the background, reflecting its integration into Lisbon life.

Today, I'm presenting another image of the New Palace in Potsdam, Germany. As mentioned in previous posts, the New Palace dwarfs Sans-Souci, Frederick the Great's original palace. Capturing its grandeur with just a 28 and 50 mm lens posed quite a challenge. To overcome this, I opted to stitch multiple shots together in Lightroom. While using a tripod would have been ideal for optimal results, I'm satisfied with the final image – Potsdam, Brandenburg, Germany

It all started with a brief internet search. From Barcelona, I wanted to make a short detour before going home. Since I had a few days to spend, it should be something more significant and my choice fell on Zaragoza - mainly because of the beautiful Basilica. The pictures I saw were enough for me, and I booked the train.

The myth, originating in 1954 with the movie "Three Coins in the Fountain," goes like this: If you throw one coin: you will return to Rome. If you throw two coins: you will fall in love with an attractive Italian. If you throw three coins: you will marry the person that you met.

Residenzplatz a large square in Altstadt the historic centre of Salzburg, Austria.

Originally named Hauptplatz it is now named after the Alte Residenz (Old Residence) of the Prince-Archbishops of Salzburg.

The Residenzplatz was laid out from 1587 onwards at the behest of Prince-Archbishop Wolf Dietrich von Raitenau, after he ordered the abandonment of the cemetery of the former monastery that previously lay to the north of Salzburg Cathedral.

Remnants of the medieval cemetery were recently discovered underneath the square's surface. Raitenau also had a large number of private houses demolished to provide space. It's construction coincided with the reconstruction of Salzburg Cathedral, according to plans laid out by the Italian architect Vincenzo Scamozzi.
