This Mallard was enjoying the setting sun and record high temperature. The water here would normally be frozen.
Jimmy crack corn and I don't cairn! (rim shot). Someone left a little something something @ Buttermilk falls. I thought it looked good against the fall colors.

A White-faced capuchin monkey (Cebus capucinus) balances on a barbed wire fence in the Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica. Capuchins are omnivores and are considered among the most intelligent of the New World monkeys.

Have a wonderful week everyone!
Möwen können ziemlich skeptisch gegenüber einer Kamera werden. Herrsching gehört definitiv zu den Orten, wo man seine Seele baumeln lassen kann.
While this yellow dungfly skillfully balanced on the edge of this buttercup(?), I slowly crouched, dislocating both of my ankles to get low enough, before using one knee as a tripod, and then disconnecting my head from my shoulders to see through the camera! I need a mini-tripod and angle-finder :D

Balancing - Last light at Pentre Ifan, with the huge capstone balancing on the tips of three other stones as it has since Neolithic times.
The largest and best preserved Neolithic monument in Wales, Pentre Ifan dates from approximately 3,500 BC marking the site of an ancient burial chamber. Of the 7 principal stones still standing the huge 5 metre capstone weighing approximately 16 tonnes and resting 2.5 metres off the ground on the tips of three other stones is the dramatic reminder of the ingenuity and resourcefulness of the Neolithic people that built this monument.

This Great Blue Heron landed in the top of a cedar tree but the branches were too flimsy to support its weight. So he struggled to maintain his balance. It was rather entertaining to watch for about 30 seconds until it flew off to find a more stable perch.
We observed this fun behavior at The Nature Conservancy's Cheyenne Bottoms Preserve in central Kansas.
I adjusted the White balance as I took shots on my local beach. More of a blue hour feel than my original "Fire and Water" taken seconds earlier. Taken on my local beach at Sandsend [near Whitby on the North Yorkshire coast] which had a great review recently as one of the most picturesque villages in Britain.
As I drifted past an adult male bald eagle (previous photo) to get some photos, I notices this juvenile some 20-30 yards down the Indiana shore.
I kept one eye on the adult through the viewfinder while keeping the other on this youngster, I believe to be a male…no doubt a 2024 model. It shifted several times, releasing its talons from the rotten wood below.
I believe his eyes were doing double duty as well. Keeping one on dad to see and learn from his reaction and the other on the guy in the boat below – pointing some big white tube at him and grinning!

Not too long ago, it dawned on me that I hadn't been to this area of town since early in the year when I changed jobs and locations, so today as the sun started to set I figured I'd go take a look.
The Rock Sculptures by John Felice Ceprano are back again this year and as always, they're amazing.
A very busy place for photographers to gather at sunrise and sundown, and today's sunset was no exception, luckily for me though, I found a little corner that no one had noticed.
If you'd like to know more about the artist, you can visit his website, www.jfceprano.com/.
Hope everyone has had a good day.

A wild flower to me, Hedge woundwort, (Stachys sylvatica) This grows in a hedgerow in my garden, it grows among the stinging nettles were it blends in quite well.

The African fish eagle (Haliaeetus vocifer) is not a ‘true’ eagle but belongs to the Haliaeetus genus of sea eagles, alongside seven other species worldwide that include the American bald eagle and the Eurasian white-tailed eagle. This is one of the most ancient genera among all living birds. And it is a sight to behold.
African fish eagles are kleptoparasites, which is to say they habitually steal prey from other species. Common victims of this piratical behaviour include goliath herons and saddle-billed stork.
A fish eagle’s toes are coated in sharp barbs, called spiricules, which consequently help it to grasp fish and other slippery prey.
This bird’s conspicuous nature and charismatic presence ensure it figures prominently in the folklore and heraldry of several nations.
This beautiful African Fish Eagle was photographed during a photography safari on an early morning boat ride on Lake Baringo, Kenya.
