A more somber image than the typical Sidi Bou Said views of picturesque houses with blue window grilles and pink bougainvillea. I was struck by the shadow and the gaping window openings.
For many this past year has been difficult in a world of conflict and we trust that 2023 may be a much more peaceful year with stability, peace and happiness....Barred Owl
I may walk slow, but I never walk backward...

This is the first tortoise I have seen in a long time. I saw him crossing my driveway making his way toward my neighbor's garden. Years ago, it was common to find several in the garden enjoying the ripened tomatoes. Today, it's a rare sight. I wanted to take a photo but by the time I got back outside, he was gone. To be a slow moving creature, he was moving rather quickly. I finally found him turned around headed back the way he came in search of another garden.

Former Seaboard Coast Line U36B 5805 and a CSX painted U36B were shuffling around some auto racks in the Baltimore Terminal in 1991.
Long hood forward U36Bs in Curtis Bay weren't a common sight so an effort was made to capture this on K64.
The largest species of booby, the masked booby ranges from 75 to 85 cm (30 to 33 in) long, with a 160–170 cm (63–67 in) wingspan and 1.2–2.2 kg (2.6–4.9 lb) weight. It has a typical sulid body shape, with a long pointed bill, long neck, aerodynamic body, long slender wings and pointed tail. The adult is bright white with dark wings and a dark tail.
The sexes have similar plumage with no seasonal variation, but females are on average slightly heavier and larger than males. The bare skin around the face, throat and lores is described either as black or blue-black. It contrasts with the white plumage and gives a mask-like appearance.
The bill of the nominate subspecies is pale yellow with a greenish tinge, sometimes greyish at the base. Conical in shape, the bill is longer than the head and tapers to a slightly downcurved tip. Backward-pointing serrations line the mandibles. The primaries, secondaries, humerals and rectrices are brown-black. The inner webs of the secondaries are white at the base. The underwing is white except for the brown-black flight-feathers that are not covered by the white coverts.

About an hour into our ride Sunday Morning we came up with the idea that we were going to camp overnight somewhere. It so happened that Anita had a brand new tent in the back of her car. A quick phone call and my wonderful neighbor agreed to close my one remaining chicken in for the night and we were good to go! We stopped at a store and picked up a large air mattress to sleep on...what more would we need right? This train was coming in backwards to the station at Durbin West Virginia. It was here that we talked to a nice young man who told us about some wild camping sites (no water hook ups or toilets ... just a cleared area and maybe a place to make a fire). So we went off to explore those...... And then things got Interesting!! Stay tuned. :)
Just play. Have fun. Enjoy the game.

"Third in her class, the Serditsya is named after a variation on the Russian word for "Angry" due to the heavy prow and sharp angles accustomed to the class. She is armed with two planetary bombardment torpedo cyclers, aft missile pods, and eight Ganymede Class Gravity Missiles."
A ship (sorry, not a SHIP) that started in LDD, and ended in real bricks. Compare this to my Herschel from- wait let me check- wow, a whole three years ago. Given how most of my photostream is filled with renders at this point, I'm pretty satisfied with myself here. It """"only"""" took me six months to finish the tail and post it. But at least I can say that I'm not as much of a snail as Ian MacDonald is with his Alterstone, right?

Walking backward when the waves are big is one way of getting wet but however you jump in the water have fun and be safe..
That is Scripps Pier in San Diego in the background.
Another backward geep works with a slug and a GMD-1 to switch one of the huge grain elevators at Thunder Bay. I've made a number of visits to this area and have never been able to find anything working the 'vaders at a non-light challenged time of day. But hey, these 'vaders do remain the only "Saskatchewan Pool" elevators that I have ever shot that are not in Saskatchewan. Like other SK Pool 'vaders, these are also no longer lettered or owned by them.

Take a look backward, go ahead. You may be amazed at how clear the picture is. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to see so clearly into the future? I am sure there are things that I COULD have done differently, or maybe WOULD have done with a different attitude, or most certainly many times there were things that I just SHOULD have done, period. When we reflect on our lives, I think that most of us would do things differently with those we hold close to our heart. Both of my parents have passed on, but there are oh so many times that I would like to see them just one more time, to touch their hand, to tell them I love and appreciate them. Even though I did that quite often when they were still alive. I also recall the times that my young son would ask me to go fishing, and I might respond with something like: "maybe later, or some other time." Of course there were plenty of times when I would say "go get your pole," and he'd be off in a flash, but If I could recall those times, most certainly we would have went fishin' every time he asked, and believe me he asked quite often. So it would be pointless to live a life of regret, wishing that we had done things differently.
Back in the eighties the pop-rock group MIKE AND THE MECHANICS put a song on the charts for a few weeks entitled "The Living Years." www.youtube.com/watch?v=rZrN7kSVvoY Part of the lyrics said ♫Say it loud, say it clear, you can listen as well as you hear. It's too late when we die to admit we don't see eye to eye.♫ The writer of the song was looking back over his life and wishing that he would have had a closer relationship with his recently deceased father. He even went on to write later in the verse: ♫ I wasnt there that morning when my father passed away, I didnt get to tell him all the things I had to say, I think I caught his spirit later that same year, I'm sure I heard his echo in my babys new born tears, I just wish I could have told him in the living years.♫ So when you begin to reflect, don't let your past blur your vision, but let it improve your visual acuity of the future. My wife and I recently put our house on the market, placed all of our belongings in storage, left our friends and family and not only left town, or the state of Tennesse or even the country for that matter, we switched continents for cryin' out loud. We are now pastor/directors at the SHAPE International Christian Center for our armed forces in St. Denis, Belgium, and lovin' every minute of it. This is really a decision that I will not look on in the future and wish I had done things differently.
