The Michigan Central Station was the main passenger station in Detroit from 1913 until 1988. All the windows in the building are smashed, graffiti is on the outside, and the front entrance is protected by razor-wire.

There have been many plans to renovate the building for a new use, but so far none have happened.

The structure was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.
