Trying to capture the drama of the wind drifting the sand, I composed this shot toward the morning light. At 200mm the scene is compressed into a pattern of criss crossing light and shadow.

Pardon me if I’ve posted this before but it’s a favourite of mine. The afternoon sun catching the Dunlin from behind as they come into land near Blackness Castle, West Lothian, not far from the Forth Bridges

A hint or a promise that Springtime should be just around the corner. However, during the following days the White of this blossom was replaced with the White of snow as an Artic blast swept down across the UK.

An old photo from last year (Feb 2015) that caught my eye. The leaf on the right looks interestingly populated with insect eggs.

I am running short of photos and combing through unused shots.

A colour photograph of backlit flowers..

Hello there,

I couldn't help but notice this lily which seemed to positively glow from the backlit conditions. To add a bit of contrast, I slightly darkened the background.

Thank you for stopping by and for leaving me a comment! Have a wonderful day!

Lovely pink Orchids captured at the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx, New York last February.

I've had this holiday cactus for 30 years and it's now about 3' wide. In that time, it's only missed one year where it didn't bloom at all. Each year it's been producing more and more flowers and blooms at least twice a year. Best viewed large.

Just a little close-up look into the veggie world with this onion slice backlit with a bit of morning sunshine and a white screen diffuser panel. Shot with my Meyer Optik 50mm f/1.8 Oreston lens, with Nikon PK-12 14mm Extension Tube, single image shot at f/8.

The Santa Cruz Visual Arts Network is open. I hope you enjoy my work.

This photo is actually a re-edited image from a few months ago. I am using it to promote this exhibition.

This week's assignment for Macro Mondays is "backlit". I often use this technique. I love it! This is a macro of a Physalis I preserved of last year's autumn. The outcome is abstract which I hope you like. I also see now that I am not the only one who has used this object for today's theme. It's a well used item ;-)

Have a wonderful Monday! HMM everyone!

Photo taken for the Macro Monday's theme "Backlit".

In a shot from the 2020 archives, this Great Egret had just snagged the fish, but when it saw me coming, it decided to move to another spot to swallow its catch.
