Poor Della has had a rough week. On Tuesday afternoon she just stopped walking while on a walk with my husband. She could barely move and seemed to be in pain with her backend. He got her home and she hardly moved all afternoon and night. She did eat her dinner and I gave her some pain meds. She got up the next morning but still was very wobbly in the backend. I brought her down to work with me and we did a bunch of x-rays and some bloodwork. The x-rays showed that she has Spondylosis deformans. That is a degenerative condition of the vertebral bones, and it commonly develops in dogs as part of the natural aging process. It can also be caused by trauma, both small and major injury. Jumping for frisbees and balls for 15 years probably help contribute to the problem.

We have decided to try to help manage her pain with monthly injections of Ketamine along with oral gabapentin three times a day. Her bloodwork came back with some liver issues but the doctors want to redo the bloods in a week or so because a sudden traumatic event can cause the numbers to be elevated.

Here she is getting her first injection of ketamine…guess my girl is a druggie now. She doesn’t look too bad here. Putting a brave face on I guess. She’s a trooper. She is not taking long walks but she seems happy enough and still wants to eat. We will do what we can for her as long as she is comfortable. One day at a time and lots of hugs and ear scratches during the day.

So after we went around that last big mud pond, we continued to an area with a rocky hill. Here the trail came to yet another impasse. Bob drove up to the right and stopped. I presumed he was going to scout a path around, but instead he came back over to me and said.. My bike is dead. Well, I thought he had just turned it off to park but it actually cut out on it's own.

The area was out in the open and it was about 32C. For the next 20 minutes, he had to check the battery.. which was full, the fuses which seemed OK, but there was nothing happening. Finally, he thought there might be another master fuse which he did locate somewhere under the backend of the bike, and sure enough it was blown. He carries a whole lot of tools and fuses etc. so he changed the fuse and all was well.. thankfully, because it would have been an unpleasant return home. We would have either had to tow it out (we had a tow rope) but it was a really rough trail and it would have been a long process... or ride double and returned later to fix or retrieve the bike.

Just so you know.. We carry a first aid kit, water, tools. parts, bug jackets and bug spray and a tire repair kit plus a battery booster. We both had cell phones and I actually called a friend to alert them to where exactly we were in the event we didn't get back. Fortunately, it didn't come to that. It was disappointing that we never got to the lake at the end of the trail.

Note: 1. I had to stop and lift that tree branch over the top of my windshield .. while slowly driving forward.

2. All the times I seem to be stopping or slowing down are because Bob is driving behind me on his bike and I make sure he gets through the hazards as well. 3. He drives behind me because his bike is wider and taller than mine and he is 6'4'' so I wouldn't be able to see or film with him in front.

Sadly the two citybuses at Godsons departed for Barnsley very shortly after their last duty on Friday. However the future for the two Volvo Olympians is possibly brighter. Here R252LGH is shown en-route "between owners", although at first sight tatty, it hides a good bus with plenty of muscle at the backend.

Peel Street in Accrington has been synonymous with the town's bus services for a good many years, but here in more interesting times 'driverless' 147 stands in the bus station with passengers already aboard. After a swift cup of tea, the driver and conductor are probably already making their way back to the bus to make their next journey to Clayton le Moors, a district that lies a short distance to the north of the Lancashire town. The backend of a car can be seen disappearing up Blackburn Road, but apart from that and the buses there is no other traffic in the picture.

Seen In a place called Waldron's on April 9,1982 I think this junkyard is still there with a different collection of cars a very rusty 1968 Dodge Charger is in front here.

The truck I had then seen on Feb 6,1982 parked in front of my house I bought it in July 1980 and sold it in March 1983 with lots of rust on it.

In hindsight I'm glad I took this snap of the back of a bus! D739 (739 ZO) was one of the large batch of Leyland Atleanteans with Van Hool McArdle bodies amassed by CIE in the 1970s - CIE had been staunch Leyland buyers for decades but these vehicles would be part of the 'great falling out' that would see CIE attempt to develop alternative models via different manufacturers. The bodywork was part of that attempt to diversify - a local company , McArdle, coupled up with continental coach builder Van Hool. The outcome was not exactly happy, not helped by CIE's very poor maintenance regime of the time I recall - and the open engine access hatch flapping around in service was not uncommon with these buses. I'm certain this is the terminus, high in the mountains, at Ballymore Eustace in which case this isn't on the 77A! This is not technically a good shot - I only had, at the time, a throwaway camera.

So after a move around I finally got a good picture of the Karma advert on preserved Metrobus 2496 and I must say that it looks brilliant! :)

With multiple feeders, filled with a variety of seed, suet, and even mealworms, you can count on the bird activity being busy at times. And perhaps even confusing on where to go next?

Saw this Pine Warbler, a recent arrival to our yard, checking out the different feeders. He seemed a bit perturbed hanging on that chain, most likely wanting to grab some suet from the nearby suet feeder which was currently occupied by a Brown Headed Nuthatch.

The backend of what looks like a Finch was one of several birds at the Hotmeats feeder, where pepper treated sunflower meats are provided - another favorite of the Pine Warbler. Alas, sometimes you just have to wait your turn.

"Hamilton" was created in 2008 for an ABC television series titled "The Prince of Motor City." It was a drama with big name talent that never made it past its pilot. Prince was described in the Hollywood Reporter as a gothic family soap inspired by Hamlet that centers on a young Harvard philosophy professor forced to return to Detroit to take over Hamilton Motors, the family's auto company, after his father's death.

The Hamilton seen here is the only one in existence and was designed by a team from the Cinema Vehicle Services Collection. Two other "Hamilton's" were being built at the time the plug was pulled on the series and were scraped.

A total of 37 Ford Cunningham Town Cars were built between 1935 and 1937, and only 17 of these cars are known to exist. Cunningham began as a maker of carriages, but by the time of the Great Depression, the company decided to produce a lower cost town car. Beginning with a 1936 Ford, Cunningham removed the body from behind the cowl and replaced it with their own body, which included an open drivers area, and a large passenger area with seating for four. According to the owner, the engine and chassis were unchanged and remained entirely Ford, However, Cunningham removed the Ford name from all visible parts to distinguish it as a Cunningham Automobile.

May 27, 2015 - Yuma Colorado US

Knowing about the moderate risk of severe storms on the eastern side of Colorado and the western side of Nebraska, I had planned out the day perfectly to intercept the back side of the cells about 4pm Mountain time.

Now into Yuma County Colorado, this was when all the action began. Tornado warning was in effect just a few miles north of Hwy 34 and I had a good sight on the backend of this developing severe storm.

From Fort Morgan Colorado via Hwy 34/6 back to Nebraska was my route back behind the developing cells. To honestly say... I wasn't disappointed. The open cloudscapes of Colorado are a photographers dream.

The sea was quite rough today as it has for the last few days. We're getting the backend of a storm hitting Greece and Turkey so the surfs up.

To get the blur on the waves, I used an ND8 filter to help slow the shutter speed down. I didn't have my remote release with me so used the timer with the mirror lock up. The trick here was seeing the wave and getting the timing right.

My son Derek and I recently visited the Yosemite National Park, which is about a three hour drive from the Bay Area where we live. This was our ride... a white 1995 Corvette convertible. It was a great road trip running with the top down through the farming valley and into the mountains. This shot was taken at one of the first places we pulled off the road after entering the park... considering the bright sunlight gleaming off the polished white surface of the car, the exposure turned out pretty good. You'll also notice that the area here showed signs of a pervious forest fire...you can see a stand of burned trees over the backend of the car.

My only regret was that I hit a set of railroad tracks on our drive back home in the dark. I had slowed down for them, but apparently not enough. Since the Corvette really conveys the feel of the road, it shook the car and knocked the alignment out of whack slightly. I just had it aligned prior to the trip! :(

By the way, our other Corvette is a 1988 35th anniversary. They only made 2050 of that special edition that year to celebrate Corvette's 35th anniversary. It is only one of two years (to my knowledge) that they serially numbered the cars... and if memory serves me, it is #1918... I'll check when I get back home. I'm going to have to sell it, though.
