... actually the same old Cat but now with 5th grade fashion sense... by comparison, in 5th grade, I wore a regimented parochial school uniform complete with clip on tie.

Kids spend much of their day at school, so it’s important for schools to offer healthy and nutritious food choices. Thanks to the Healthy, Hunger Free Kids Act, school meals are being transformed to promote better nutrition and reduce obesity nationwide. Eating smart helps kids learn, play and grow.

Here I am in the right lower-hand corner wearing Ray Ban sunglasses (how 80s are those?) as an extra for the Rodney Dangerfield movie "Back to School."
Yes, I am a geek who bought the DVD, stopped the movie and took a photo of myself. It's pathetic, but true.
But do you see this amazing acting ability here? I am acting completely absorbed, fascinated, on the edge of my seat with anticipation. You'd never know from the intense look of interest on my face that we'd been doing that all week long and I was probably hot and hungry. What an actress, huh? So good I didn't even need to speak.
While many people who've done extra work like to complain that it's boring, I actually had a lot of fun. I even worked often enough to pay my bills (just barely!) for a few years, until I got tired of feeling lesser-than, unimportant...I mean, the title "extra" says it all. The last straw came when a female P.A. on the film "La Bamba" told me I was supposed to wait in the back of the line for my food. What?! Because I was a lowly extra at the end of the food-chain - behind the actors, the D.A.s, the P.A.s, the grips - I was supposed to eat last, when I'd been lining up right along side Robert Downey jr., Kevin Costner, or whoever?! No one had ever told me - until then - that was the rule.
I didn't care if it meant no more flirting with actors, no more lobster and filet mignon and help-yourself sundae bars, I would never be treated like that again!!! So I stopped doing movie work and got a normal job. But now I have a teenage daughter, so I'm getting movie-extra flashbacks; no P.A. has ever disrespected me more than my own kid...but that's a whole other rant.
Anyway, as for working as an extra, there were advantages: For one, I was new to L.A. so it was a nice way to make a lot of friends. And one good friend was Jennifer - a tall, blonde, newlywed, bathing suit model. During the same week this scene was filmed, Jennifer and I sat in the bleachers talking about her married life, while the film crew set up to film Rodney and Sally Kellerman for the next scene. The set was quiet. So when I said to Jennifer, "I don't think I'll get married. I can't even find guys I want to date." Rodney Dangerfield heard me (since I was sitting a few feet away).
"Hey! Honey!" He said to me in his booming voice. "Come down here! I'll marry ya right now!"
I turned red and shut up.
